E92 325i brakes

Hi guys,

I've got a 2007 E92 325i. I have got 1000km left to go on the rear pads and 7000km left on the front pads according to the OBC. I am looking to change the pads over myself but i can't seem to source parts off the internet as i am not sure if they are the same size as the E92 328i brakes? (i know they are different to the 335 brakes, well the front anyway). The car currently has 36,000km on it so would i need to change the discs as well,just have them machined or leave them as is and just fit the new pads? What would i need to exactly change eg: brake pad sensor, etc and finally where would i go about getting these parts from? I live in Melbourne, Australia

Sorry for the basic questions and my ignorance but i have always worked on Alfa Romeo's in my life and this is my first bmw.

As far as parts go, get the part numbers from your dealership or mechanic. This will ensure you get the right part. You shouldn't really machine BMW rotors, they're really soft. I would just replace them as I did on mine. My fronts lasted 80,000 mi but the rears gave out around 50,000mi. In both cases the rotors were done. Also, you do need a new brake sensor if you replace the pads. There is one sensor for the front and one for the rear. I get all my parts from Ticher BMW (www.getbmwparts.com) but I'm from the US; not sure if they ship international.

The brakes are very easy to change and there are several DIYs on this site. A friend and I did the fronts in about an hour. Just remember, don't touch the pads or rotors with your bare hands or they'll squeek. Especially the ones from BMW, they're really porous and will absorb the oils from your fringers.

Yeah I've had a look at that website you mentioned e90pilot, i will call the dealerships in Melbourne but i doubt they will give me part numbers

for the obvious reason that they know i will be buying parts elsewhere. I can find the part numbers for the E92 328i brakes but i can't find confirmation that they are the same as the E92 325i brakes. The e90 325i brakes are different again due to smaller discs as i understand it. I will give the dealers a shot today and see how i go.

Is there any websites in which you can enter the VIN number and it shows your vehicle and all the parts fitted to it? I ask this as with Alfa Romeo's there is a website like this. Thanks for your help
