Red BRAKE light of deathhhh
But seriously, this morning my brake light came on along with a service car lift light. I'm assuming its a bad sensor, possibly rear? Anyway to check?
The dealership I work at has a 08 e90 with the same issue and is being sent to BMW today to get fixed. I did a quick search and didn't really find much about it but I'm assuming this topic has been discussed by someone before lol Thanks |

I am pretty sure that symbol is a warning of the wear sensor being worn down...not sure if you can tell if its front or rear unfortunately with that warning. Just take a flashlight and shine it through the wheels and see what your brake pad thicknesses look like, that will probably lead you to which one is worn more.
Could be a bad sensor, but check the pad thicknesses first. |

First things first: Read codes - surely your dealership has an OBD II reader. BMW P code cross ref here. BMW graphics Technique I've not yet tried. What'd ya find? |

Sensors are on driver side front and passenger side rear pads. Check those and see if the sensor has worn down, broke, or come disconnected.....and visually inspect pads as others have suggested.

Well I got in the car and the light was not on so nothing to check. I start driving home and about 2 miles in it comes on and I'm able to check and it reads "CC-ID 71" which I believe is need brakes. So I'll be checking/ordering brakes tomorrow lol
