08 E90's, factory alarm needs activating?

I previously had an 07 328i coupe that I installed the factory alarm. Once I installed that the clown nose blinked and the alarm would go off if you opened the doors without disarming.
I just installed the factory alarm on my 08 335 sedan. The clown nose blinks but when I open the doors or hood with the alarm supposedly armed it doesn't "alarm". I verified all the connectors are seated properly and everything is installed the way it should be.

What I'm wondering is if there's some change in the 08 3 series that they now require activation for the alarm to work. Before, you only really needed to activate if you wanted features like chirps when locking.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you need to activate it on all years. Perhaps your previous car was already programmed for it?

I ordered the alarm kit from Tischer BMW. They have it for $235 shipped.

Most people who previously installed the alarm kit had at least some of the features working without activation. 328i- you could be right and my previous car just happened to be programed. I guess I'll have to make a visit to the dealer... I was trying to avoid it, they didn't treat my last car very well.

with a siren of without?

I think you need like 3 parts, right? Alarm module, the siren and some kind of mounting bracket, right?
