TPMS question with non RFT

So just like a lot of people, I decided to ditch the RFT on my 2011 328xi. Got brand new tires and now the flat tire warning is on... (got new tires yesterday)

After reading a bit about this online, it seems it may have something to do with the tpms sensors? I'm confused about this. Do we have to get new sensors every time you put on a new set of tires? Even if that was the case, I assume the sensors are already installed in my tires (or wherever they are) because it gave me a flat tire warning.

Any ideas? I've checked the tire pressure for one of the tires and it was a around 40psi. Will try resetting after topping up all 4 tires but I thought I'd ask..

I'm not sure if they took the tpms sensors from the old tires (RFT) and put them in new ones (if that's possible)

No you can transfer them.

Check all pressures then reset tpms.

Air pressure is air pressure no matter what type of enclosure it's in. (Rft or regular)

It depends if your car uses valve based sensors or calculates it via the ABS ring.

2011 uses valve sensors.

Type of tire makes no difference.
Wait till tomorrow morning , take pressure when tire is still cold. Set at recommendations as per your door sill or manual for each tire.
Get in car start car pull up TPM file go to reset, press it drive around about 5 mins and light will go out. Now you have reset TPM at the prescribed pressure.

I'll try that. Is it safe to say that they did transfer the sensors? I don't wanna be finding out later that they didn't... these sensors are pretty expensive I hear

You can visibly see them. They have a hex on the valve stem versus just a normal rubber one.

Since you said you have a low tire warning that would mean the module is reading something meaning they're in the tires. If they weren't you'd get an "inactive" error.

I take it that it's same wheels but new tires.. There was zero reason for them to remove the sensors when swapping out a tire.
