So you have a pre pop V1, version 3.813 or so? Circa 2005-2006?

I'll have to pull it out of the box to check the exact rev number.

[QUOTE=Pokerpot;13101988]I have a pre-Pop Valentine One for sale.

All Valentine One units have a software revision number (although they basically look the same from the outside), these are the "upgrades" that Valentine does...they upgrade you to the newest version...which is almost always better than the previous EXCEPT in this unique case.

The addition of the POP feature DECREASED long range performance so it could scan two little segments looking for blips of POP radar.

Pop Radar is ULTRA rare and not a legitimate threat. Only one Police Radar company makes it and it has an extremely poor market share, it was such a failure that their new unit doesn't even have POP capabilities (MPG Ranger radar unit).

In addition, while trying to be hyper-sensitive to POP, a lot of false alarms are generated that would normally be recognized as non-police radar by a non-POP V1. Any real radar detector fanatic, such as myself, know this but the average radar detector buyer is left out in the dark and thinks the newer models are better.

I have another one like this and I have done side by side comparisons with my friend's newer version and it's 100% true. Longer distance and less false positives.

Priced this at $300 net to me for a (hopefully quick) sale. Add shipping and Paypal fees please.

Do you have something to prove this? Any kind of data? Not disputing one way or another but unsubstantiated claims are just that - somebody's claims.

Is S/N available?

pre pop V1 performs well. Maybe not as well as OP states:

I can only go by what I have seen with y friends V1 that was new as of July of 2011.

I saw this one picking out legitimate threats after drviing with it in my car side by side for a week. Also very little to no ghosting.

If you want to disregard all of my observations on it --- it's still a V1 that is in like new condition with all accessories for 300 bucks.

Where can I find the version number? All I see is a serial number and, when I enter that on the website, it doesn't show a version number. Just says I can pay to upgrade to a POP version 1.85.

Start here:

. How to enter the Programming Mode.
Starting with the Control Knob in the "off" position, Press and hold-in Knob and at the same time turn the Knob "on;" continue holding in the Knob until all front-panel lights are on (takes about 5 seconds).
Release the Control Knob.

Then:

II. How to determine your software version.
Press and immediately release the Control Knob to display software version. The software-version number is four digits that display one digit at a time in the Bogey Counter-example: 2.869.
Note your software number, then see the table below for features that are programmable in your unit.
Press and immediately release the Control Knob to exit software-version display.
