Actually just PM'ed the OP. This sounds like the issue I am/was having with my car. It was "normal for these cars" too. They finally narrowed it down to the tranny and submitted a PUMA for a new tranny. But when the tc saw the PUMA they said the issue was actually a known issue and not a performance problem. The fix is a rubber plug/dampener that they install on the car to make the sound go away.

I told the OP to have the dealer disconnect the Torque Converter from the Fly Wheel and see if the noise went away. If it did then he has potentially found his problem.

Good luck. Not sure it is the same issue, but the best way to diagnose if it is is to do the torque converter disconnect
