Magnaflow for 328.

Wondering if you guys knew of any problems or concerns with this? I found Magnaflow made one specifically for 328xi so I figured I'd give it a shot...for 1.3k but found it for 839$ here

http://www.speedyperformanceparts.co...580+11920+6954

So....anything I should know before buying it?

Well, I've heard the Magnaflow muffler sounds fairly good - only problem with that system is that it includes another set of midpipes with a resonator.

Most who add a performance muffler also do a resonator delete to make the sound even better. Even the BMW Perfomance Exhaust includes midpipes WITOUT a resonator.

Seeing as you already have a resonator in your factory system, if you want to keep one - you'd be better off just buying the appropriate Magnaflow muffler only and custom welding it onto your existing pipe, instead of paying for yet another resonator.

There are plenty of threads showing how the muffler alone installs if you do a search...

Does a resonator delete sound better on BMW than normal cars? Cause my friend did that on his EvoIX and it sounded like ass.

If you do a search in the exhaust section - mostly everyone confirms that the resonator delete with the proper muffler always sounds better on the BMW's...

I haven't done exhaust yet, but my choices will be either the BMW Performance system or the MMW muffler with resonator delete.

If it didn't sound good, why would BMW sell their Performance Exhaust system with midpipes that delete the resonator?

I guess you were missing my point. I wasn't necessarily saying that you should get the BMWPE over a Magnaflow - just used it as an example of a nice sounding exhaust that uses the resonator delete.

What I meant was, instead of buying that entire system that includes a resonator (which you already have) - buy the Magnaflow muffler #14815 for $150

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MAGNA...item4aa2497f25

I mean, why pay for yet another resonator when you already have one?

You'll have to pay a muffler shop to cut off old muffler, make a short piece to fit the MF muffler to your exhaust pipe & weld - usual cost is around $50

The also pay same shop to install a 'Y' pipe in order to delete your factory resonator - might be another $50-$60

So now you have a Magnaflow muffler with resonator delete for $250-$300

Much cheaper than the $800+ for that system you looked at, same quality MF muffler + resonator delete

And if you don't want to get rid of your factory resonator - just install the MF muffler and save yourself another $60...

Yes, quite a few members have used this muffler. The factory muffler of course is long in the parallel to car width direction, while the MF installs parallel to the length of the car.

You have to cut your factory pipe soon after it breakes over the rear suspension, have a short pipe made that goes from there - and makes a 90 degree bend into the inlet of the muffler - it does fit.

Here's a post that has pics to show sorta what the short pipe from muffler to your factory exhaust would look like:

And here is another MF with sound clips:

Looks like it didn't post my question!

Will this work on a 06 330i?
I was considering deleting the resonator but now I'm wanting to get the magnaflow with the delete? Will it work?
