Interior trim vinyl wrap project E92 Pic Heavy
Whats up guys,
So I have always meant to get to around to vinyl wrapping my wood trim in me E92, and finally got started tonight. I ordered 5ft x 5ft of 3M 1080 series Matte Grey Aluminum wrap from metro styling. This ensured I had plenty of extra as it is my first time wrapping anything, and some left over for future use of touch ups. The delivery was very fast and to my door only cost $45. I then went ahead and got top of the line equipment from Harbor Freight sarcasm for those with no sense of humor. Anyway, I got a heat gun, squeegee set, precision knife set, and trim removal tool set for $30. So all in, I'm at $75, not bad. I was impressed with the wrap, and was just the color I was hoping for to go with my space grey metallic/coral red combo. Now, this is my first time wrapping so I went and grabbed both door trim pieces and my drivers side vent to start with. I figured these would be some good pieces to start on and get the hang of it. The trim removal tools made it very easy and took no effort at all, they all came out with ease. So, I wasted a section of my wrap the first piece trying to rush through it. I can't stress enough that this takes time and patience, and beer. Heat and stretching are your friend. The material was pretty forgiving and with heat and stretching I could work out air bubbles and creases. All in all, I finished these 3 pieces in about 2 hours of slow work, pizza, beer, and watching nba. Im happy with the outcome, and excited to finish the rest tomorrow. There are a few very minor imperfections, but are on areas that will be tucked/snapped in when the trim goes back in. Hopefully I can update with some pics once its all finished and back in the car

Finished up today guys, the main center trim and the trim with the ashtray was kind of a pain to get out, but then again I'm just impatient lol. The top center piece has 3 connectors, the two behind the center vent are in a very tight space, and be careful not to pull it out too far trying to reach them. The bottom console trim with the ashtray has 4 torx screws you need to take out, they are small but not horribly hard to get to. I may have taken my ashtray cover off wrong because it does not want to snap back on, will investigate that further later.
wish I could have taken better pics but the sunlight was coming straight in through the windows and creating weird shadows and bright spots. Time for an interior clean too!
