335xi dyno record

What is it? Wondering if it's worth giving a serious shot next weekend

Firepoule was claiming 449whp at one point, not sure what his wtq number was.

Looks like he's claiming 449whp/473wtq here in a comment: http://www.youtube.com/all_comments?v=Gadg8u3IB6E

If that's him on dragtimes.com, with the wheels off, hood up, etc in the picture for the dyno run it looks like 449hp and 473tq. There's all sorts of speculation about how this dyno or that dyno reads, and what you can do to manipulate numbers and what not... Part of me is teased to try, and the other part says dynos don't really mean much anyways...

I don't care much for the dyno myself, part of that is because it's expensive around here and also I have a vbox so it doesn't really tell me much I don't already know

Well played. I've got a decent connection here in Phoenix to a MAHA 4WD dyno and it's cheap...

The devil on my shoulder that always follows me whispers "what are any of these mods worth without various forms of documentation of their achievements?"

To me it would be fun to have a dyno, time slips, YouTube videos, the works. Covering all possible ways to record "achievements" such as measured power, 1/4, 60-130, etc. I may not be up for the standing mile however... I'm sure when the more typical performance measurements are taken care of, it'll start to itch...

11.998, I definitely thought you'd be faster than that with those dyno numbers? With awd launch, yes you lose probably 3 or 4 mph up top but but I figure you should be closer to the 11.5/11.7 range.

yes but this record is 2 years ago with jb3 1.3 and map 10...without meth and without helix fmic. Probably around 11.7x with new mod...this year I will try some race day at dragstrip. I hope .2 or .3 better and maybe 1-2 mph.

I wasn't trying to sell short your sub 12 number, definitely very fast.

I'm fbo without meth and am hoping to break 12's this spring. Best so far is 12.4 without race gas and before my downpipe install.

Good luck on the mid 11s, remember to let us know in a few months when the strips open up again.

2012 is going to be a good year for the XI, sounds like a few of us have the mod bug pretty bad! I've always felt like the XI was under-represented, if we can figure out our drivetrain issues I know a 10 second XI is in the bag.

Also glad to see BobVader is alive and well on the 335xi platform still!

Will be going back out tonight, even though it may only be on vbox we may see a new 335xi 1/4 mile record tonight

No nitrous yet, that is next weekend. I did just try and go back out after getting some help from Terry, but meth isn't working. For some reason the output on my pump isn't holding the line and it's just popping off. I never liked the push-in fitting and it seems to have failed, or I've done something to it so it won't work anymore.

Had fun tonight even though it's raining like crazy, and I know the 335i guys will hate this but even in heavy rain I just clicked off a 3.8 to 60 with just JB4 map2 + DCI. Spun all the way through first gear which was kind of fun, AWD FTW

Bought a used setup, simple 10lb bottle and lines from an Edlebrock wet kit. Going to use NX solenoid and dry nozzle with it hooked into the JB4's trigger wire. Initially I'll be trying out a .24 with a single CM10 meth nozzle and try to dial that in before testing out a .28 and .32.

Picking up the nitrous stuff Monday, had hoped to get a full blast 1/4 mile meth run in to compare but it's been raining and snowing almost non-stop here so no fun until it stops.

How are you liking the UR dps? I'm leaning more towards the cp-e for $580 but can't find anyone else that has put them on an 335xi so that has me a bit nervous

I just put the cp-e dp's on. They fit great. I think I actually prefer the engineering behind them to th AR dp's. Did that with the cp-e dci. Woke the car up!

Also, everyone I've dealt with at cp-e is a class act.

Curious to see what the car will do this spring...race gas, 19# 18x9.5 wheels, and no seats.

CP-e makes XI specific DP's now? Or did you experiment with the I DP's? Either way, good news for the XI crew.

The cp-e dp's are now universal. Great thinking on their part! They were able to manage better fitment by using a cast bell mouth rather than radiused piping.

Just what I was looking for, they said they had sold a handful of XI downpipes so I knew someone on here had them

Unless VRSF gets their pipes out fairly soon I'll be going with cp-e.

+1 on waiting for VRSF!

However, AR is currently having a group buy on XI DPs at price comparable to CP-e (cp-e website price is $649.90).
