Doesn't matter if V5C only indicates registered keeper rather than proof of ownership: it is enough to sell the car. If the car has no finance on it - like a lot of expensive cars parked in London with absent owners - then there is no checkable record of ownership other than what documents the absent owner has. The syndicate is totally free to sell the car and the person who applied for the V5C is their name is back in Bulgaria or wherever.
You're never going to stop orignised crime on that level, but for the average drug dealer/crim, at the very least, they should be made to show a V5 and passport.

True, if organised crime is going to put a lot of effort into a stealing a car, they are going to steal it.

DVLA makes if f$"%^&g easy for them though by making the only barrier to getting a V5C in a new persons name a 2-week waiting period and a non-response from the true owner in that 2-week period. That's just nuts.

If organised crime are not doing this now either it has to be harder than this or the ease in which it is done just makes everyone as incredulous as me and it has never occured to someone without prior knowledge of this to think there could be a way that is so easy.

If you want rid of it I'd contact your management company as a 1st port of call. Let them deal with it.

Would just washing it yourself and pumping the tyres up make everyone feel better? 1/2 hour work and problem goes away.

If it is still there in 6-months, work out a Plan B then.

The car remained for a couple of more months then disappeared.

Then weeks later a red GTO twin turbo turned and hasn't moved since. Nobody has ever been near it in what must be 6+ months again.

Why would somebody twice spend good money on what is quite a rare and specialist car just to let it rot away?

The paint is beginning to fade but other than that it looks a solid car.

Still can't take to the Audi RS3. They don't look any better in the flesh.

The little Citroen is quite quirky though.

all looks very strange... i would inform the police that you are suspicious and just let them deal with it

it must have a registered owner at least.. probs completely innocent though

my boss recieved a V5 he applied for after a customer left a car with us for over 2 years, we were owed probably more than it was worth so he ended up selling it to recoup costs owed to us...
Which is fraud and could end you up in crown court...great advice...

No you haven't. The transfer has not been agreed. If your trying to appropriate the vehicle dishonestly (which in this case it would be as the owner/keeper hasn't been consulted) then that is theft. If you claim otherwise on an official document, it's fraud.

Mate it's up to you and I understand what your saying, I'm just saying what can happen on the official side of things. I detest people dumping shit where I live, but to be fair I live in a dump
