EOI - Group Buy - Fire Extinguisher Mount

Hey guys,

Have decided my DIY wood plank + zip ties mounting bracket for a fire extinguisher is both aesthetically problematic... and not quite meeting CAMS requirements...

Ordering OEM mount from Europe.
Cost 21USD each + shipping

Link - See post from vtl below...

I wish you the best for the Group Buy but man that is soooooo ugly. I think I might prefer my car to burn than have that huge red tube stuck on the floor of the passenger seat of my $100K car.

Just an observation.....

I would rather have the oem one, that moves with the seat :

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpos...2&postcount=13

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=03_1156

Part number 52100413022

$21.31 USD
http://www.schmiedmann.com/en/produc...2-10-0-413-022

I would just buy 52100413022 and buy a fire extingisher locally with bracket. Then just bolt the fire extingusher on the plate.

How about a group buy of this mount instead

Hi mate. Its a requirement for participation in CAMS track/racing events... not an aesthetic mod, lol. The extinguisher needs to be accessible from the drivers seat and bolted to the car to meet criteria. In front of the driver or passenger seat is actually probably the least aesthetically problematic option. In any event it can be removed in about 5min, so you take it out after your track day.
Ash.

Do you know if this will work with the SCA 1kg extinguisher?
I initially discounted oem as i got a quote from the dealer at over $180 for the ext + mount.

It looks like in the pictures the bolt holes on the bracket didn't line up but they just moved the mounting point on the SCA bracket upwards until it lined up:

See how theres a paint mark on the red bracket? Looks easy enough to do. Should fit the 1KG extingisher fine.

I've actually got this one now.. just need to find a fire extinguisher with bracket to fit.. you can see that they had to modify the mounting point on the extinguishers bracket to make it fit.. Do you think it will rattle doing it that way vince?

Nah should be fine, only 1 bracket has been shifted and even then I think it would still have enough friction to stop it from moving.

Even if it was a bit loose you could probably lock it down by putting some loctite or superglue on the metal rods and sliding the bracket mount on top, stopping it from moving. Either that or a little spot weld.

Any good welders out there?

I've actually got a welder at home but I really don't think it'll be required to make the mount secure.

I've just put a test order on the Schmiedmann website and looks like the shipping cost can really be cut down by doing multiple orders. Did a quick test, buying them individually would cost $70 usd shipped, a group buy of 5 gets it down to 30usd each shipped.

Also... I think the part number you linked to was LHD, there are parts available for Right and Left Hand Drive and then RHD only... All out of stock though...

This is what I'm eyeing up as a potnetial candidate. I'm thinking anything bigger than a 1kg would be too fat to fit in the bracket.

52100413022 is definitely RHD

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part...&q=52100413022

I always buy out of stock items from Schmiedmann, just have to wait a little while for them to order it from their suppliers.

Put my name down
