Audi A5 pix ...waddathink?

that was my first choice till i found out no auto till next year, only a few s5 and 3.0tdi, 3.2 quattro only avail next year. looks nice though.

Hmmm, I read the review in the Independant newspaper yesterday and was quite surprised by it. I guess it will be interesting to wait and see what other reviewers have to say.

autocar has one as well, they say the same thing.

i've seen a couple of others as well, all seem to agree that the BMW more practical, better to drive & better value.

There's a review in What Car? as well.

"It's ok as a GT, but it's not the threat to BMW we were expecting" or something along those lines was their verdict

It looks like a hot car, but the best way to avoid buying an Audi, is to drive one, and then get back in the BMW. I looked closely at Audi's when buying both my two previous cars. Ride, comfort, performance and handling dont show up in the glossy pictures and the BMWs always win here for me.

EVO magazine's review of the S5 was quite 'lukewarm' and they are big fans of the RS4 which has the same engine. They were however still looking forward to the RS5 which will have the V10 engine used in the lambo gallardo.

plus our local Audi dealer treated me like something he had stepped in !

Yeah the Audi salespeople that I have come across here in NI are jumped-up and arrogant to say the least.
Once, I went to look at the A4 2.5tdi a few years ago and was going to trade my E46 330d sport saloon. The salesguy more or less tried to tell me that I was stepping up and that my car was in a different league to the A4. Flippin cheek. I was also not impressed by the drive of the A4 anyway so it did not matter.

A while back My wife went to look at the A3, and after trying to tell the polish pigeon-english receptionist that she had an appointment, waited for about half an hour for noone to come near her. She left in disgust and never darkened the door again.
Needless to say, she had a great experience when buying the 120d sport.
