Automatic: M5 Knob vs. M3 Knob

Quick question. Sat in an E92 M3 yesterday and noticed that the illuminated auto knob was more compact and somewhat different compared to that of the M5. Anyone know if they are different (size, features) and in what way?

After searching I know and have seen the M5 knob on many E90/E92 but was wondering if you can fit the E92 M3 on an E90/92 as well.

Thanks...

Well, after ironic came with the idea of making a PNP harness for the M5/M3/DCT knobs to retrofit E90's I took a close look and found a difference between the M5 Knob and the M3 Knob.

The pattern is the same and should work the same as well as the lighting. The only thing that has changed is the Arrow diagram in the middle, while the M5 knob has the big arrows the M3 has subtle denotations making the knob less crowded.

Lit up the M5 knob will probably look better.
Not sure if anyone is selling the M3 knob yet... Maybe Tischer.

What do you guys think?

they are the same size, just arrows are different in the middle of the knob, look at the photos, the M5 knob as big arrows pointing up or down and the M3 knob doesn't have arrows really.

hope that helped

They look identical and size-wise about the same. The M5 knob was cropped closer so it looks bigger. I know, the m5 knob is tiny.
