To my car which had only slight swirls -less cut pads and then more cut pads. Rather disappointed in the results and it was going to take days!

OK - so I obviously need more practice. But what is everyone choice of pads for our stupidly hard paint?
I use Menz 3.02 and a 3m waffle compound pad or a Sonax Yellow. How much pressure were you applying?

I've had my car for a year now & still haven't taken any photos of the full car - I think I'd better put the camera on charge

Products used for the interior:
AS Brisk in Vax for seats and carpets. On a dampened cloth for the Alcantara.
G101
Megs Quik Interior Detailer (It's not a bad product considering. Smells nice, think clean and lemons)
Megs Window Cleaner Concentrate
Gliptone Cleaner for Steering Wheel, hand brake and gear stick.

For exterior:
G101 for grills, badges, panel gaps, window seals etc.
Megs Shampoo Plus. I tried AS Duet for a bit, but didn't like it, so back to the Plus!
AS Hazsafe, 101 and Plus mix for foam.
AS Tardis
Iron X
Megs clay with Last Touch
Menzerna RD3.02 on Hexlogic yellow/SFX-1 pads. Finished down to LSP ready via Porter Cable.
Werkstatt Acrylic
Arcrylic Prime for the bright work on the grill.
Megs Endurance for the tyres.

I topped up with another layer of Werkstatt last week. All that's left to do now is paint up the callipers and disk bells silver!

I think red & blacks etc do always come up better. You can see the difference more if you know what I mean, you must be a bit of a pro!!

Hi mate, your not the only one who uses Autoglym set up of:

Autoglym super resin polish
Autoglym Ultra deep shine
Autoglym extra gloss protection

But instead of using the Autoglym wax. i use a liquid wax called primo amigo( something like that).

It really those make the car look nice.

I think the 2 best things when detailing your car is the claying and using the DA machine.

i have only started using the claying method recently and the difference it makes is a lot.

i have recently got a good deal on some g3 supergloss paste wax. has anyone tried this.

also what do you use to sort out faded black trim

Prima Amigo is a cleanser/glaze. The liquid waxes are Prima Banana Gloss and Prima Hydro.

To clean the shadow line trim you want a good paint cleanser such as Werkstat Prime Strong or Clearkote Vanilla Moose...

Werkstat Prime Strong...

Clearkote Vanilla Moose...

I've got a DA and recently found a rotary polisher at home but never used them. Anyone got any recommendations on which pads to get and which polish/glaze/sealant/wax etc?

I was thinking somthing like chemical guys hexlogic green, white and black pads, some megs #80 and #83, poorboys white diamond and collinite 476s (already got a nearly new tin).

My car is Alpine White btw.

Hello mate, if you have never used one i would suggest getting door or bonnet from the scrappy and have a go on that 1st. As for pads i like 3M but only because i get them free

I'm not a massive detailer but the more i read the more i'm getting into it. A lot of good info on polishedbliss.com.

Foam gun (end of hose not pressure washer) & meguiars hyperwash/foam
No-name pressure washer wash
I use the 2 bucket with whatever shampoo is in the garage.
Dry with micro fibre towels
poorboys exp sealant
poorboys Natty blue paste wax
dry wheels (sealed with nanolex pro paint and alloy sealant)

I've got a BMW e36 track car to practise on so that's not an issue. Is there any specific instructions to use when working with BMW paint as I've heard it is harder than other marques?
