Ok gotta admit...a little butt pucker going on...

I am 67% into my first ever COBB flash on my car.....I read up and expected all the warnings, but I am sitting here nervous as hell. Was everyone in the same boat when they did this the first time?

You seriously started a thread just to see if anyone else was nervous when they first put their tune on???

Jesus this forum is going downhill, hard to find any good info even if you search bc useless stuff like this comes up.

So I can safely assume all 4,000 + of your posts were informational and on a specific topic? Never a joke? Or can I assume that the vast majority were as useless as this example?

I do agree it can be hard to search...trying now to look for the thread on data logging parameters I should select with COBB....care to shake hands and help me with that as this site as well as tuning is new to me.....?

OP It is perfectly natural for you to be nervous. Based upon your post you are new to tuning and the last thing you want to do is mess up a perfectly good.BMW. as for me I also was new, but I wasn't nervous I was excited. After all my research I realized COBB S1 was very conservative and seeing what FBO guys were doing, made me realize I really wasn't pushing my car hard. You are in very good hands with COBB and you have nothing to worry about. And you can fully uninstall before going to.dealership.

Now I am COBB Pro ETune with 400+ whp, pay to play, just saying.

Here's a pretty good data logging DIY, as far as what to log just use the default logging channels.

The only thing that should make your butt pucker is when you hit the throttle for the first time after the flash.

Of course there's anticipation. Doesn't make this thread any less pointless.

I giggled like a little schoolgirl when my AP started lighting up my dash like a christmas tree. I also shrieked like one when my car didn't start on the first installation attempt of my JB2 with HP pinout back four years ago. Fun times!

I know I wasn't nervous! Dude I had my AP before they even supported the 07s. I remember when I saw their thread here about 07 support I left work to go try it out. Good times... Now I maxed out on stock turbos... and the itch for bigger turbos doesn't go away

Flashed my car a couple weeks back... Did it on a Sunday, wasn't nervous. Maybe I should have been because the upload failed and my car was dead for two days before it got sorted out.

Forgot all about it once the install occurred an it was fixed. One press of the gas and I was ear to ear grins

I thought your thread title was hilarious.

You wanna talk about butt pucker....back in 90s I was one of first to use new tuning devices back when they weren't as much idiot proof on supercharged stang I had (I've since tuned other stangs and dsms..nowadays you just pay someone to flash or buy the latest tuning 'device' and make sure you understand it...10x simpler these days)...there were some very primitive boards where we bounced back and forth "did you try this or that" posts all the time (truly wild west, you had control of everything and there was no manual)...hundreds of tables and timing and fuel weren't done on single tables,,,as conditions changed you had to consider that as a different table would be used. Early on I ran into tuners (as I transitioned from Ford to GM platforms in early 90s) who would mask out all other tables (you set all rows to specified values) so it would force the ECU to use a certan table (fuel or timing)...scared crap out of me as once certain conditions(atmospheric primarily) apply you lost the adaptive ability to pull timing or increase fuel...

so, yeah my gas came out very high pitched in those days.

so its cool to be nervous and to say as much to folks...hell its a community. (I've been on many over all the cars I've modded over the years) You'll be fine and as folks have said you'll be grinning ear to ear soon enough...worst case, just pull the thing off (or we talking about a flash here...then the just a default flash will do)

As far as the guys who decided to take the time to post 'useless' responses...you get those types (makes them feel important I guess). Its just so fortunate they they decided to descend from their high seat of judgement and cast there desicion of what they feel appropraite over all now and then (and one of these guys I've already seen likes doing this a lot...its cool tho, it might be all he has in life and so long they contribute when it matters...tech...then let them feel they are the unnoffical moderators)
