this is true, they have the same motor, check the stock dyno's for both cars, the all of the 55k cars make the same power..... it's just marketing #'s.....

Yep, FiskeGTS is tuned. But only minor mods. Not sure what pure stock runs, but I think it is @116 trap speeds. You can check dragtimes.com to be sure.

I've both cars right now and believe me, the E55 will run circles around my 335 from a dig or a roll at any speed. The E55 has brute power and with a simple ECU & PULLEY upgrade, it's OVER. However, when it comes to twisties, the 335 wins hand down period.

I've have my 335 sedan since Jan 07 and kept my 2003 E55 until May 07.
I never did any puley swaps or any engine mods for the 55 because it was pretty darm fast at any speed. So my personal opinion for a 3-4 CL stock vs stock at 60-above sounds about right. Don't get me wrong for the 335 is super quick for its engine size and the twin-turbo but to match up against a V8 supercharged 469 horses with 516 pounds of torque is really tough. and to answer someones question about the horsepower. the 55 from 2003-2006 is 469HP/516Tor 2007- is the new 63 with 507HP/465Tor thats why you will see alot of 55 owners rather mod their 55's instead of the new 63's because the torque was no joke. but if you did see a V12 badge it definitely was not either the 55 or 63. |

I doubt 335i with just the v2 procede would take a stock E55, I pulled 12.07 @ 116.3 MPH bone stock:
http://www.dragtimes.com/2005-Merced...deos-7808.html A fully worked 335i with ecu, intake and exhaust work should make it close enough for either to win...

Say anyone here had one of these 2003+ E55s? What is the downside to these cars? I had no idea used ones were so cheap. I have always admired these cars. I know this is the wrong forum, but someone here might have the straight scoop.

you just saw about 4 people who had or have one, including me.
the only downside that i found to the E55 is that its so soft so handling is 'OK'. also you will need to upgrade to larger stickier tires as a problem to really enjoying the car is that you will sit there and spin and have the traction control fucking with your fun even when its 'off'. Otherwise, i would say its a PERFECT car for a daily driver that you want fast ass high speed for and awesome stop light to stop light. It'll handle 'ok' but i got tired of it quickly. I'm getting a 335i tomorrow and im going to modify it to about stage 3 (imo to me thats: chip, downpipes, exhaust) and i think it will be very fun on the street and high way. I do want a 55K engine again, and I'm looking for another 2005+ SL55, but sort of teetering since the new SL model is coming out not too long from now. |

the track is slow, but good enought that I have gotten a 13.400 in a stock 335. Not sure what kind of times you get at your track, but that should give you an idea of the track conditions.

I dont care how inexperienced the driver is at the track, it is an automatic. Even if he doesnt hook up, his trap will not be 110 if its the s/c E55. |

lol. Read a book or something smart guy... I personally beat one with PROcede V2 and there are people with 335i's trapping 116+ in the 11's now. Facts are really hard to deny but I'm sure you can get George W Bush to agree with you in this matter. He's not a big fan of facts either~
