OBD II code

My 2006 325i has the following two obd ii codes:

P1554
Engine Position System 'A' Performance (Bank 1)
P1553
Engine Position System 'B' Performance (Bank 1)

The code specification was from here,
http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/eb..._dtc_codes.pdf
It's 330i by the way.

Assume that the explanation of the codes is correct, what do Engine Position System 'A' Performance (Bank 1) and Engine Position System 'B' Performance (Bank 1) mean?

Thanks

This is what im finding based on obd2 codes but bmw codes may differ

I would definitely take the car in asap it could be a sensor but i would not risk it.

"A" Camshaft Position - Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance (Bank 1)

I have this same code right now, what are the consequences of not getting this fixed quickly?

If it's a timing issue you may hear pinging or knocking especially if it's hot or under load. If the car is running fine I'd take it to autozone and ask them to reset/wipe the code. If the CEL light returns 99% of the time it's just a sensor nothing mechanical.

I'd reset the light and save yourself a few bucks before bending over for the dealership. If it's running OK it's probably nothing too serious.
