So if Im looking to keep or even improve on the BMW ride quality but also get a sporty handling, this is what I would want?

The more you lower the car the more you compromise ride quality and improve handling. This suspension improves handling on the street dramatically and also improves ride quality over OE. I wouldn't set it at its lowest position; I'd set it at KW's recommended ride height.

Yeah, it's funny whenever I mention the KW Street Comforts to people, they look at me with a blank look on their face. I guess majority of people are just interesting in slamming their cars, hence the popularity of the V series.

Is the additional -0.5 increase in camber from -1.0 really noticeable on the streets?

I spoke with forum member jfisher160 a while back. He has had the SC's for over 30k miles on his car. The only issue he encountered was that he needed to readjust the ride height after 15k miles due to the springs settling. IMO, not a big deal considering the SC's don't go that low.

yes the front was set at -1.7 and will increase if the springs settle further; I hope they don't; they sure settled a lot over 500 mi which is how long I waited for an alignment.

I've always known progressive springs to be more comfortable than linear springs. How do these manage to be the most comfortable coilovers out there if they have linear springs?

I don't get that either but according to KW the SC offers the best ride quality for this chassis. I don't think they're 'the most comfortable coilovers out there' Ohlins might be that. Again, I think KW uses stiffer, linear rate springs with this kit cuz it doesn't lower the car as much as the V series kits and I'm sure KW valves the dampers for these springs

Linear springs enjoy the benefit of always having a matched rebound damping rate to control resonance, when set correctly. With progressive springs you are either tuning the rebound for the initial stroke or the final- even when tuned by a professional it is essentially always a compromise resulting either in overdamped jacking/harshness, or underdamped bounce. If you never push your car hard, this may never be noticed though which is why you tend to see a lot of progressive springs on the street market (they help with extreme lowering with bottoming-out control).

Does anyone, including the OP, know if SC's truly require spacers to work on from OEM wheels? I'm running wider than stock fitment 245's on my stock 19" 313's. Would prefer not to run spacers...

Probably. I'm running 235 PSS tires on 8.5" et38 wheels up front and the inside of the tires are pretty close to the spring perches, not rubbing though. I'm going to put 10mm spacers up front just to widen the track a little bit.

btw, thanks for your previous post; makes sense.

Appreciate that info, thanks man.

I'm leaning towards the GC street/tour setup if this one requires spacers. I *think* the GC coil is a smaller package overall since it uses barrel springs instead of stock type.

Yep. GC uses shorter, narrower race profile springs. They have a hybrid 335/M3 susp that utilizes the M3 rear camber link. Based on your other thread, GC sounds like it'd better serve your needs for track days. I'd see if you can get the Koni's valved for the spring rates you select.

This is a KW SC thread

Thanks for the review. I'm currently in the fence trying to decide between V1 and SC. This thread is gearing me towards SC.

Not really. I'm very happy with this suspension! No 'bangs' over hard bumps/potholes like spring/shock combos. If I were to install it again, I'd try to get thrust sheets for the adjustable spring perches.

Has anybody else installed the Street Comfort recently? Opinions, updates, longevity issues?
Thanks.

The front springs continued to settle down after a few thousand miles. I'll have the front raised 1/4-1/2" when I'm due for an alignment.
Nothing else to report.

What did you end up going with? Interested since I have an xi also.

Reviewing this thread as Im considering V1 vs SC but not sure if there would be much of a difference in how these perform on an xi.

Don't think SC are available for xDrive vehicles.
