Sticky of reputable BMW shops around these parts
It would be nice to have a sticky master list of reputable BMW shops listed by general location (northern md / southern md / western md / nor va... you get the point). A few places have been mentioned here but I'm in northern baltimore county MD and they're just not close enough for me to stop by and have certain things checked out.
Any interest? Thoughts? |

I can save you a lot of time.... none of them will be the actual dealerships.
Clem is my go to. Luther has a great rep on here as well. Both are in Md. RRT is Virginia - I've heard mixed reviews and they charge too much. Work they have done on my personal car (re-code an FMR) was good. Pretty sure that's the comprehensive list.

Indys are what I was looking for... The problem is that its an hour drive to flemming auto from here... get down there to get checked out... diag... drive back and I'm out of at least a half days work... then schedule another apt to get the work done... drive back down there for that, wait the 4-5 hrs while work is being completed and drive back and I'm out of another days work...
Not sure where clem is located but I was looking for something a little more convenient - thats the only reason I was hoping to get a slightly bigger list |

Post up what issues you might be having here, or talk with Luther/Adam. They've seen a lot of shit over the years so can probably tell you what service/things you need done just based on their experience alone.

There is a spot in Rosedale, MD called Baltimore Bimmer. They are independent but I can't vouch for the service and it's near the White Marsh area which may be closer to the OP. There is also Urban's Auto Service in Catonsville, MD. They specialize in BMW and the two mechanics are former BMW mechanics. They helped me look over a used BMW I was going to purchase and were great! If I need work done that I can't do myself I have a private BMW certified mechanic in Glen Burnie or I go to Autowerkes in Fallston, MD.

I am having some oil leak issues -
the oil filter housing is leaking but im not sure if the amount of oil leaking from there can be responsible for all of the oil thats coming down the front of the engine and dripping into the belly pan... it's enough oil that if puddles on the top side of the belly pan and when I'm parked on a slight incline it leaks out onto the pavement below noticeably. I recently switched to pennzoil ultra 5w-40 from factory BMW oil - could the difference in viscosity have cause a slight seeping of oil into a more intense leak? I am attaching some pictures that may or may not be a little more helpful. image 2 is looking down the front side of the engine image 3 is kind of crappy but its the front underside of the OFH and front of engine - all oil soaked image 4 is the oil cap with some oil seeping down the valve cover gasket. Would the just be coming from the oil fill cap or could it be from somewhere else? I wouldnt mind replacing the cap but I can figure out how to get it off. thank you. |

I have a mechanic that does good work but does not specialize in BMWs so I dont really want him experimenting on mine... Ive seen Baltimore Bimmer but have not heard anything about them... I'll have to give Luther a call... he has a lot of fans here. thanks. |

I use Einstein's in College Park. They specialize in BMW and Gary was a master mechanic at Tischer BMW.

I've gone to Rick at Greenspring Valley Automotive in Owings Mills. He has tons of experience with BMW's and fixed my issues of a leaking oil housing gasket (which ended up getting oil into my coolant tank- so act quick on that!) and did my water pump. Cool guy and is the shop owner.
