Final installation

I cut out the face plate rather tight using Dremel and a file so that once you put the V1 CD plate, it is restricted from going inside, hence gives a very study hold and a nice look and feel.

Then I applied Gorilla glue sparingly using a tooth pick around the V1 CD plate, and once inserted, applied carefully very little amount around it using the tooth pic. Remember as per Gorilla glue instruction, this glue will expand 3 to 4 times the original amount. Then it was clamped.

After 1.75 hours later, I unclamped the fixture. It was quite firm. Now it was time to put the circuit board onto the back. Because the face plate was nicely flush mounted, hence no curve; the circuit board need to be fixed and glued, so that when you press the rubber button to mute, it doesn't sink in. Again I applied Gorilla glue carefully around the plastic circuit board as not to smear the circuits. It was clamped so that the RJ11 jack was sealed to the back of the V1 CD.

This is how it looked.

After testing thoroughly before putting everything back, this is how it looked once completed.

This is where my V1 radar detector is installed. Wiring was done through the A-pillar through the Airbag container, etc.

For those still reaching for their V1 or remote display to mute it, there's a more elegant solution, for sale on Ebay. Agravic from Audiworld had pioneered it years ago, but alas, he doesn't seem to sell them anymore.

You have a little button that is wired and put it either behind the windshield washer / turn signal stalk, and press that, without having to take your hands off the steering wheel, or others have put it elsewhere like next to the shift knob or by the window switches.
