Winter Tire Picture Thread

With winter soon to be here for some and in full effect for others, many people have already switched over to the winter tire/wheel setup and others are close behind. There has been a great deal of discussion on the various wheel setups. Most people have opted for 17" though some went with 18s. Given the difficulty with finding 17s that fit the 330/335 the selection is rather limited. I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread of all the different winter setups. This is something many of us have to do and unfortunately, the looks tend to suffer. I would like to create one thread to compare the looks of the different setups. I will try to post pictures of what I can find but please post pictures of your winter setup.

What wheel is that last one? It looks like a 156 and a 161 put together!

Edit: Read your post instead of just looking at the pics! Got it!

I kinda like that one. I strikes a nice combination of space vs. spoke.

When I get a chance to wash my car this weekend I'll take some pics... I have Yoko winter tires installed on my stock 161 sport package rims.

I finally put my ASA JH3's on. Sorry, my cell phone takes terrible pictures. I posted these pics because these are the 20mm offsets which stick out a little more than the other pictures. The rears look great.

Looking good!

Timing may be spot on, I see we're due for some sprinkling in the next few days (flurries tonight)...

Resurrecting this thread

Seeing how it is fall and a lot of us not in Miami or LA are planning our winter tire purchase, I thought I'd try to resurrect this thread and start by sharing a couple pictures of the winter tire and wheel set I just had installed yesterday. I bought from Tire Rack and installed at a local shop (Auto Europe in Birmingham, MI.) I went with the following setup: 17" ASA JH3 wheels and non-runflat Dunlop Winter Sport M3 XL tires. I also picked up a BMW Mobility Kit since I'm driving sans spare.

I do plan on putting on Roundels but the one's I received from Tire Rack were too small.

Here is what it looks like on my car. And yes I already do miss my stock 18" set.

Stinger, nice looking set-up. I have to admit too, that those ASA's, for as inexpensive as they are, are actually a pretty decent looking rim. I remember seeing them on another e90 last winter, and initially thinking that it was a factory rim. I think having the roundels will fool the majority of the population. It is amazing however to consider the impact a simple set of rims can have on the overall appearance of a car. My neighbor just put a winter set-up on his Volvo S60 w/ black steel wheels, and his now otherwise decent looking car has been transformed into something that looks like it drove off the set of Mad Max.

Black steel wheels...classy. I'm sure they look great on a 1973 Chevy Vega but a $40k+ semi-luxury car..?

Dunlop 3D seem to be very popular here. Question, what the pos and con for 225/40/18 and 235/40/18 on this car?

I couldnt get 225s from tirerack. Ordered 235s, almost no difference at all. A tiny bit bigger overall diameter, but nothing to worry about.
