Dyno does not tell you 0-100. 0-100 isn't that important anyway since a dyno gives you a much better comparison with stock by providing you will wheel hp and torque.

Normal car service they will only upgrade small things like windscreen wipers etc. I went to one of the other mechanic "BEMW" and tried autologic (like GT1 a bmw car diagnostic tool) It reads, if my car need to upgrade all the firmware it will require 7hours and 35mins which is really not likely that they will upgrade it unless major upgrade needed. Also 7hours of update still require someone to monitor the car closely which make it even more likely. This was one of the big concern when i did mine but Peter said out of all the cars he did, only happened to two cars. (I am sure he did more than 100 cars/he showed me his REMAP file folder) So i asked him what if it really happened to me that dealer overwrite the ecu setting? He said he will put it back for you for $150 labour cost. I think there is no way a dealer can find out unless they did a dyno test on your car which is unlikely. |

Is there a tune out there for a 320d that is undetectable by the dealer or that will allow you to go back and forth if and when you visit the dealer? |

IT IS EXTREMELY EASY FOR THE DEALER TO DETECT YOU HAVE A TUNE, IT INVOLVES A SIMPLE SOFTWARE DIAGNOSTIC. No dyno is needed. On top of that, they'll put a red flag on your car for your VIN on the BMWAUS database to note that you have powertrain modifications. If in the future you come in for warranty work related to the engine, transmission, diff, turbos etc. you may be denied due to your mods no matter what dealership you bring it to. Quote:

You have no idea.
Still, might just wait another 7 or so months and get turbo petrol. Maybe a muztastic 335i? Not too keen on the whole fuel pump thing though. TOTALLY KEEN on the performance and potential. If only we got the 335d... |

my fuel consumption has been pretty bad these days, way to many short trips
(2 x 6~7km trip + 2 x >1km trip) its at 8.9 per 100kms and this tank is probably only going to get me 750ish kms in total whats yours like sam? |

I guess at the end of the day, if u were driving the petrol equivalent, u might find urself doing around 12-15l/100ks so regardless, 8-9l/100k is still not bad.

Sam does Heel and toe with left foot, didn't you know that?
My first tank lasted 1031k and average 5L/100(bris to Syd) The next two tank averaged 7.5L/100k (City driving) I went for a trip to wollongong last week and was doing 4.7L/100k. SO i am telling you Diesel is the future! stupid petrol cost too much/sometimes more than Diesel. Once i filled a E10 petrol for my old car $1.49.9 and $1.43 for BP ult Diesel. |

If you want to go back to dealer for service, you should at least make sure you are running stock power so they don't suspect anything. If you have no incentive to do your services at the dealership then nothing is stopping you from going elsewhere. Dealers are by law not allowed to force you to service with them. As long as its a logbook approved location then its all good.

Ok br0.. so after a few weeks now with your baby remapped - is it still as good as you originally thought?
What about smoothness, auto changes etc etc... still got that factory smoothness, but with a much better power responsiveness - or any concerns/regrets?? Cheers..

Ya, i have never regret getting this tune because i really enjoy overtake with ease which i still could do with stock but alot more responsive/aggressive. I meet few boys at the Max Brenner meeting the other day(AWESOME FUN), you can ask Rivenscyr and SBC on how they felt about the tune. At first it felt kinda of slow because cold engine and Riven weight 110kg but on the way back it felt much faster. I also ask Riven the same question and this is what he said on fb. "I think it pulls very smoothly, accelerates almost without noticing. I believe its alot smoother than stock when accelerating hard." If i can get SBC to give me some feed back, that would be nice too. Regarding to smoothness, if i am on D its perfectly fine. But the only concern is sometimes on DS, i do get little bit of jerk when flooring it hard. Also slight wheel spin at start but as i am still on 16tyre so most likely effect the grip. I need a 17 to unlock the full potential of the tune. Still havn't got time to dyno yet but assuming if the figure is correct it will be +44hp/+100nm from stock 177hp/350nm. Cheers |
