11/3-4 is tempting... but 5 days in 4 weeks is pushing it. Plus, weather is really unpredictable then, remember the snow storm we had on Halloween last year or two ago? lol. Maybe I should head south and finish the season at Summit...

My vote is e46 m3, just so many parts out there for cheap. My neighbor is / was selling his race prepped m3 for relatively cheap, considering the quality parts in it.

Z4M would require both a small 2-wheel trailer for tires/tools and a DD beater as I need a back seat for the DD part. But it's a sweet sweet car! e46 M3 is the logical choice, but the e92 M3 prices have tanked hence my dilemma...

If you guys want to pitch in, we can buy one of each and rotate cars between events...???

Ha, I would if I could, hence the Z4 is my 'track' car... and have a crappy beater for DD use. How many track days would I get with $100 investment? =P

Considering all those winter months, half dozen in 3-4 months is pretty normal, no? haha. Plus, get winter performance tires!

I do like the "South" idea. Only if it's gonna be mid-late Nov though. Wanna do a season ender at VIR or SP?

It's just opened up, I got that email about TrackDaze today. will add it to the calendar. Be careful though, Trackdaze needs 3 weeks notice for a refund, NASA needs 1 week. Weather can go either way as you said but you can't cancel with TD if weather is questionable.

My last event of 2011 and my SECOND event of 2012 involved driving to the track on my winter tires and changing to r-comps. Traction was...limited

I say cancel the NJMP event if you can get your money back. Do 3 days at Summit Main for $350. I'm only doing Sat/Sun though ($300). You guys have signed up for so many days at NJMP.

My current order of liked tracks:
Summit Point Main
Watkins Glen
NJMP Lightning
Summit Jefferson
NJMP Thunderbolt

Only ones I've been to so far.

Three of us from Montreal are going down to VIR for PCA event Nov 2-4... Hope we won't get bad weather leaving from Montreal. 15.5 hours of driving to get there.

I've actually done Summit a lot, only reason I'm doing NJMP because I haven't done nearly as many days at Tbolt as I have done with Ligntning so actually looking forward to it. But wrapping up the season at Summit isn't a bad idea. It was either that or make my way down to VIR again.

Josh, Milos and I were at Pocono today. The beginner group is one big train but the other groups (I'm in intermediate) are fine. The track, ehhhh, I probably won't come back here but I wanted to try something new. Lap times are so short but the track is fun. Not that fun, but you can enjoy yourself.

Only the first session was dry, the weather turned miserable fast; it was windy and raining not hard but steady up to the last session with temps right about 50*F. This was actually my first time running in the rain, ever. I ran with the R comps ... they held better than I expected, but some caution was required.

Tomorrow looks like a washout, heavy rain with temps in the 40s so I am just going to use my PSS.

Edit: Hey Peter I am not in this event -

Pocono 101:

- There's a 99% chance of rain, regardless of season
- They'll tell you the morning fog is normal, seriously. Most of my first AM sessions there have either been blackflagged because the flaggers cannot see each other or ran completely under yellow due to heavy rain.
- The only remotely-interesting configurations are the full oval or a minimum of 2 main straights connected by a banked turn (no double-infield crap or North course only).
- 1 day a year at Pocono is more than enough.

I bet next year there'll be that one day where Pocono is the only event that fits in your calendar and you'll say screw it, better this than not going to the track at all. At least that's how I justify Pocono events for the last few years.

^Agreed with above, I'd do Pocono if I really had the urge and there was no track event within a 500 mile radius lol.

Today ended up being no rain at all; slate gray skies and temps in the mid-40s. The turbo pulled nicely. Lots of people didn't show up because they thought it was going to rain (everyone did), and the last sessions since so few people were left we ran combined green/black and then another one with yellow/red (they told us it was a new group called orange ). No incidents.

I can't see myself coming back here unless there's a really good reason. And that won't be for the track itself. At least now I can say I did Pocono ... right?

We had half of Turn 3 of the oval, then the infield transition and back out to the oval. I had fun, but it wasn't much in the way of excitement. I would have liked to do the full oval ... there were just a few cones in the way and my front lip is too expensive.

Agree with everything Charles said. I don't think I will go again. It was cool to ride the oval but it would have been awesome to run the triangle a few times. I think CCA was risk averse...safety first :-)

Also, there were a couple of big dips/bumps as you transition from the oval to infield and from infield to oval. They repaved the oval but not the infield track so that was interesting :-) talk about suspension settling test.

Are you guys going to another event or this is it?

That infield transition sure was a test. I went out in an E46 M3 (stock) with an instructor, we hit that and it was like WHA~!!!! WHAT IS HAPPENING!?

I'm going to NJMP Lightning this upcoming Sunday/Monday with NJ CCA, but I'm the only one signed up from our group. I guess nobody likes me

RUh RoH... the cat's out of the bag

haha, j/k. I would've done that event but can't take Monday off and 1 day wasn't an option for experienced run groups. Plus I've done my share of Lightning this year. My next events are 10/19 with PCA at NJMP T-bolt and am considering 11/3-4 with PCA for Light/T-bolt.

LOL

The registration list for the 3-4 is showing a lot of waitlisted entries (23/108). Sign up and cross your fingers!
