Dinan upgrade Stage 1

I am debating getting the Dinan Stage 1 upgrade on my '08 335XI. I wanted to get the stage 2 but I don't have an oil cooler and don't want to drop the money to get one. My question, is the performance difference in the Stage 1 flash versus stock worth the money. Or should I only be considering getting the stage 2/3 flashes.

Dinan Stage 1 can be a nice option, but financially you can get a used piggyback for a fraction of the price that delivers similar or much better performance.

Well, regardless, Dinan requires u to buy the Dinan Oil Cooler in order to get Stage 2. Even if you have the factory one

Hence the reason I went with JB3 and I have no oil cooler at all

EDIT: Read post below, its only required for Stage 3, Stage 2 just requires the dinan or factory

that's not true at all. With stage 2 all you need is the factory oil cooler. I have stage 1 and I got 312 rwhp and 339 rwtq. Is that enough fer u. I'd say get it and when u have the extra funds get the oil cooler and get stage 3. I'd say get a piggy back If u want more power and yer not too concerned with paying out of your pocket if something breaks.

Sorry thats only for Dinan stage 3 that it requires the Dinan oil cooler, sorry my mistake. here is the quote from Dinan Stage 3 page.

Quote:
Required Products - In order to qualify for Dinan’s matching new car warranty coverage, which includes consequential damages, the vehicle MUST be equipped with a Dinan oil cooler and high performance intercooler.

I don't know anyone that has gotten the stage 1. I would just get an SSTT and call it a day unless you have DME81.0. Which it sounds like you might.

SSTT works with both v81 and 29.2+

sstt has nothing on stage 1. I had jb2 before and stage 1 feels less jerky and more responsive. Stage 3 is a waste. it's a barely faster than stage 2 and u have to spend another 4 grand on bolt ons and labour.

I got the Stage 1 back in June and love it. See my initial impressions (still unchanged) on this thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=150741.

That was a great review thank you very much for your input and attached review. Still debating on the SSTT or Dinan 1.

How easy is the SSTT to install? I am basically incompetent when it comes to anything electronic.

I thought BMW was upgrading cars w/o a factory oil cooler for free?

Check that out. If so Stage II is way faster.

Isn't that only for cars with the sport pkg?
