Exclamation dont carry water in your trunk... :(

a friend and i went on a road trip, water in a jug spilled out that was stored in the trunk.... car electronics work but nothing happens when i press the start button. LOTS of water is in the battery compartment. Can anyone give me some sound advice? I'd love to be able to drive again. Thanks in advance for helping out a new bmw owner... sad for now.

Did you disconnect, remove and clean up the battery terminals and cable ends yet? Maybe after all of that you would have some luck in starting it.

If you haven't already then you'll want to remove the rear carpeting and let it air dry before the mildew starts in ......

I used kitty litter before when my wife spilled milk in my e36's trunk. let it soak it as much liquid as it can and use a shopvac to clean it up.

going to go home and try to get it started, hopefully its dried out enough. Is there anything that is on top of the battery that could have been potentially destroyed with the water contact?

Same thing simular happen to myself with that back battery compartment filling with water. Unfortunately it happened because of a SEIBON CSL Trunk lid not sealing the trunk tight. Everytime it rained, i had to go out and pump until i fixed the issue. I didn't remove the battery, just disconnected it and pumped the water out. First i used a turkey juice thinky, that ya know you base the turk with durin cookin.

The worst thing that happened was that i needed to replace the ground cable, which is a pretty dam crazy cable. Aint cheap either. Stupid things started happened. But she's all good now

Goodluck!
