How much gas do you burn?

How much gas do our cars burn at the track? Do you bring extra gas?

I fill up prior to arrival at the track and end up using 3/4 to almost all of it, depending on the track (4x 20min sessions).

Bringing extra gas can be beneficial; it might save you from having to run out and get a quick fill up before the last session.

When I first went out to the track, I would use 3/4 of a tank in 4 sessions of 30 minutes. Now that I am going a bit faster, I'll use the entire tank in 4 thirty minute sessions and have to pit out early if I didn't refuel between sessions. I average about 7 mpg.

Don't be fooled by your fuel gauge! It's not linear! I've gone out onto track with 3/8 a tank of gas and had to pit out running on fumes with a couple of laps to go in the session.

THIS. I agree with everything in this post. The faster I get at a particular track, the more fuel I use. In my last session at a HPDE at Chuckwalla, I burned >1/4 tank in the last 20 minute heat when I was really going for it. Looked down at the gauge and flipped out seeing how low I ran the car. Had to pay the price and buy fuel at the track because I was so low.

Ya, you will burn through about a full tank. Fuel getting to the track event, at the track event, and drive home is more expensive than the actual event itself.

I use about a whole tank assuming 4 sessions at 25 min each. Always fill up in town during lunch where it's cheaper.

I have used 3/8 of a tank in one session when running E30 on the track. It depends on the track too, the faster the track (more WOT time) the more fuel you will use per lap.

Well... I usually get just under 6 mpg

Given that - you can determine how many laps you get per gallon and then multiply by 15.

I have a 2007 335xi. A full day at Pacific Raceways in Washington state will run me a 1.5 tank fulls at stock power.

2007 335i (MT) ~380hp crank and I do about 9mpg (26 litres/100km) at the track compared to 22mpg (10.5l/100km) DD (average over last 2 years).

There are petrol stations near all our tracks so don't take extra.
