No sport mode
Took the 35i for a little jaunt today as it was nice & dry, when I got to a nice bit of clear duel carriage way I popped it into sport & nothing... no sport mode So I carried on anyways using the paddles but it just wasn’t as much fun.
I knew it would just be a wiring issue as I’d read a couple of threads on here about it. When I got home I popped open a beer & settled down to fix the wiring. Once the centre console cover was off, the shifter mechanism out & the wiring cover off I could see two of the wires had snapped & all of the others were near to breaking. Snipped & stripped all the wires, had another beer slipped some heat shrink over the wires, twisted the wires together in turn & sealed with the heat shrink. It’s a fiddly little job, all the damaged wires were very close to where they disappear into the shifter mech with one wire damaged in two places, the second being to close to be able to cut so that got reinforced with heat shrink. Had a senior moment on reassembly when I couldn’t remember where the white connector went but all back together & working now

Nicely done. Can be a bit tricky down there so good you got it sorted. I might need to check mine at some point just to be sure.

Cheers Raj, yeah the way the wiring is bent & curled into that tight little space behind the wiring cover was always going to be an issue long term. I suspect if you looked they'd need doing.

I suspect the wiring on all the autos will be like this to a greater or lesser degree dependant more on age than millage, having said that even the latest e9x are getting on a bit now. My 35i had only covered just over 3,500 miles from Oct 19 - Oct 20 & the missus did most of those. The 35i may be getting On a bit now but it owes me nothing & I'm happy that I don't have a 20/30k car sat around hardly being used & costing £££ a month
