Fuel injector cleaner

Off the shelf dump in the tank fuel injector cleaners..... discuss....

Waste of money? Bad for sensors? Unneccessary? Increased idle smoothness and throttle response? Use often or once a year? Best brands for our engines...

I personally never used fuel injector cleaner on my last BMW (2000 purchased new and ran it until 184,000 miles). However, I read that Techron is a good product http://www.chevron.com/products/prod...tives/tcp.aspx

Also, here is an interesting article

we use a Moc product where i work...some people will say its crap and doesnt work...but ive seen it take a car that idled very rough(no misfires though) and it drastically changed how smooth it idled..this wasnt an in the tank kind though this involved disabling the fuel pump and running the engine directly off this for a period of time..

Yes the dealership stuff is techron. You can never go wrong with it. My personlal favorite is a good old can of BG 44k. You will feel the differance after you put it in . How ever the average price is like $20 or so.

With all this talk I dumped a bottle of Chevron Techron in my gas tank while changing my air filter. Does it work, Naturally I read the instructions after I dumped it in and I was suppose to put it in an empty tank then fill it up. However, my tank was full then I placed it in, DOH! Oh well.

Why not just buy Chevron gasoline?

Probably more concentrated in the bottle? I doubt I will use it again. Also, I remember seeing a TV program that showed how all the gas stations got their gas from the same place. What a scam.

Gasoline is a commodity. However the additives, which are added as it goes into the tanker, are different between brands. As is the quality control.

Techron before every oil change.

Oil changes every 6,000 miles with Mobil 1 0W40 and Mann filter.

Then I clean my MAF and air filter (aFe).
