COBB Stage 2 Aggressive
I just tried out Stage 2 on my 335is for about 5 minutes flooring it in 52 degrees weather. Mind you my car is completely stock otherwise. The car ran great but obviously I worry due to not having DP's. Anyone see an issue with using Stage 2 now and then for a short period of time without DP's?

Look at it this way, what benefit is it to them to limit their target audience by saying it requires mods that they don't sell? They obviously feel the stock downpipes are too restrictive for that level of boost.
It may feel great with the increased boost, but unless you're logging (and I don't even know what you would log for this, temperatures?) you could be doing damage. Obviously no one will recommend doing something that increases risk, even if you say it's just for a little bit - let's face it, how often will you really switch back after you get used to the Stage 2 power? Gotta pay to play.

If you only did it for a few mins in cold weather just to get a feel for stg 2, I suppose it's no big deal. Just don't make a habit of it as the added power is addictive. As others have mentioned, get the supporting mods if you want to run it full time.

i still don't understand why some folks refuse to stick to the maps recommended to them by the actual tuner. if it were me...i'm not going to take a chance just to see how the stg5%$# Super Sacrilegious Agressive maps feel. but that's just me... |

Doing it one time may not hurt anything, but then again it could. Everytime you ask the engine to do something beyond what it was designed for you run the risk of something going wrong. One thing you can be sure of, sooner or later it will expose whatever the weakest link in your vehicle happens to be.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Wasn't sure if anyone in the past had tried it or not so I was curious to see what everyone had to say. I was expecting everyone to not suggest it but hey, you never know. I'll stick to stage 1 till I get DP's

You might as well go all out and also pick up a FMIC and DCIs. You won't be disappointed Stage 2+ Aggresive.

COBB are releasing the stage 1+ soon and with an intercooler you'll be able to run these new maps

Lighten up no engines will be blown here, he is trying S2 no FMIC, and FWIW S2 sport is much weaker than S1 agg, and S2 agg is only .5 to 1 degrees higher in timing than S1 with same boost.
You'll probably be fine with lower temps and good octane, however it just puts stress on your turbos from all the backpressure, but 5 min you are totally ok.
