iPhone camera mount?

I have searched everywhere and I can't find a good camera mount for the iPhone. I've seen someone using one on a track day that mounted to the headrest, but I never got a chance to ask him where he got it or if he made it himself. I find it hard to believe that there isn't a solution out there. I have a Go Pro that I mount on the outside and I wanted to mount the iPhone on the inside.

Not to derail your thread, but how do mount the GoPro on the outside? I would like to mount a camera in an E93, but without the headrest posts I am not sure how to do it. Outside might work for me.

Do you have posts on your headrests? If so there are several bar configurations on this forum to which you should be able to mount a ram mount for the iphone.

No prob. The GoPro has a suction cup mount that will hold small moon. You can also stick it to your sunroof. The camera can flip the image if you mount it upside-down.

I didn't think they would allow suction cup mounts at a track day, but it is interesting that the suction cup would hold that well. Ram mounts have a lot of options for mounting the iphone inside. I have not used them in a car, but have used several of their mounting systems in a airplane for tablets and portable GPS units for back ups. I've always been happy with their product quality.

They sell it at the track. I used it the last time I was at Thunderhill. Trust me, it won't come off. You'll rip the body panel off before the suction cup comes off.

Thanks. I e-mailed the registrar at Texas Motor Speedway and you were correct, suction cup mounts are approved. Not recommended, but approved.

Best of luck with the i-phone mount.

I ordered this one from monoprice for use at the track. It uses a suction cup and you can lock down the angle so you don't get the vibration like the kind that you can move freely. The top is open so the camera has a clear shot of the road. It's only a few bucks so it's worth a try. I haven't had a chance to try it on the Texas World Speedway track yet but Ihad it on the street and it works good.

gopro has roll bar mounts you can order. i need one that will fit to the headrest, but i don't know if the roll bar one will work for my application.

as far as the suction cup goes. i agree... i stuck it to my front windshield (inside) just for a test while going up a windy mountain and it was fine. im sure the only way it will come off is if its not put on correctly, something big impacts it, or your going hella fast and the force of the air just rips it off. i don't think i'll be trying the third one (going 100mph+ to see if it gets ripped off... but your welcome to try on the track)
