287 rims on 2011 335i w/xdrive?

First post!

I recently ordered a new Blue Water Metallic 2011 335i with Xdrive. It should be coming in in a few weeks. It doesn't have the sport package, but I still wanted the rims that came on the sport package, which I believe are 287s. The sizes are 255/35/18 and 225/40/18. Will these fit on a car with Xdrive? I thought I read somewhere that some rims don't fit with xdrive for whatever reason. I really don't want to deal with rubbing, so if anything, I can just sell them again and call it a day.

Any thoughts?

It'll work (as long as your offsets are correct). With xdrive you're not supposed to run a staggered set-up because of differences in the overall diameter. I'm looking at the size tire sizes for mine though and the difference is something like 0.02 inches difference in overall diameter, which is quite negligible.

You should check out the wheels and tires sub forum though, they'll be able to say for sure.

this is common knowledge with AWD....on here I see a lot of 335xi running a staggered setup..looks good but not a good thing.

I am confused, car came staggered from the factory.. So BMW is putting a set up their cars from factory when it's not good for the car? That's hard to believe.

You can run a staggered setup as long as the rolling ratio is less than 1%. Go to the wheel and tire section of the forum, it has been discussed before.

Maybe the xDrive is rear biased?
