Just put in destination rather than planning a route from my home. A voila! 'Car' is now in the margin

Thanks Boo

Thanks

I spotted this after entering a destination rather than a route.

I also have 'phone' as an option.

Exclamation

BMW ConnectedDrive

A great add-on but I found you have to chase BMW to have it switched on. (on-line and phone)

What is driving me round the bend, is you cannot use it when the car is moving!

But you can use your Sat-Nav, radio, Ipod and mobile phone!

So ... I applied for my 3 year free trial of ConnectedDrive in Sept07

A bit surprised to receive a letter this morning advising me that my subscription is 'shortly due to expire' (no date stated) and offering the chance for me renew for £120 a year.

The account renewal form says that my current account expires on the 1st Feb 09.

My maths is a bit ropey sometimes, but I'm pretty sure that isn't 3 years.

Shall call them tomorrow and have a whinge.

Not paying £120 a year though, even though I like the service.

I reckon it's worth £50 a year tops.

I received the very same letter of bullsh*t from them as well, NFS.

I took out their offer of 3 years free subscription to BMW Assist in September 2007, when they were told to do so by BMW Germany.
That should take all free subscriptions into summer 2010, at the earliest.

Suffice to say I'm going to tell them what they can go & do.

Hopefully the letters are a mistake. Bloody insulting if not.

Very bad form to offer 3 years free, then go back on that. I have nothing in writing on the 3 years, but it was very clearly stated by the lady that dealt with the application.

Track down the lady who took your application and have firm words....

or send Viv round to do it for you (and us)!

As I recall from UK2, you're pretty good at that. So good that people go to far extremes.

I honestly don't know. The date mine expires makes no sense to me at all.

I will have had the service about 17 months and 1 week.

I got the same letter but never use it so can't be bothered even picking up the phone. I seem to remember that depending what age your car is you get different free offers.

My E92 had 12 months complimentary (on a 56 plate, bought nearly new, so probably the remainder from when it was registered). My current E90 (06 plate, bought on 1st May 08) had 6 months on it as the new owner.

Thought newer cars got the full 3 years though.

I think BMW are confused.

The guy I spoke to today went off to check, then came back and told me to ignore the letter. Wouldn't be surprised if it stopped working in Feb anyway.

Every action has an equal & opposite reaction, Floyd- even at a UK meet.

Shame....I was looking forward to giving them a complete & utter b*llocking for their incompetence.
