anyone here has steering wheel lock issue?

mine is 06 E90, the dealer said it was a usual issue happened in 06 E90. does anyone here have the same issue? [the steering wheel with a lock as you are trying to start the engine]

it's not just an 'issue' with 06 E90s, that's normal with most new cars, your steering wheel locks up

This is a major issue! It is covered in full by BMW.
I just keeps getting worse until you are unable to start your car.
I had mine fixed last week (no charge), had to leave the car most of the day.
E90 2006 330XI.
Anyone with these issues - this is not normal and needs to be fixed - see your dealer.

It seems the answer is steering column replacement or steering column lock replacement, although some suggest that a software update will fix it. I haven't seen the TSB, but I'm guessing it says replace column/lock.

I wonder if a PROGMAN update would fix it...

i had that twice, but for both of the times i turned the wheel a bit with my knee while i was getting in the car so i guess thats the problem. i justswitched everything off and lock and unlock. then everything was fine

it seems quite a lof of people here have the same problem. I just picked up my car from dealer. the problem is fixed by replacing a new stuff on the bottom of the stem of steering wheel.

he means the steering wheel lock icon on the heads up display.

i had this problem; it only got worse. i set up an appt at dealer; had steering column replaced in one day. just bring it in!

2006 330i with manual trany.
I have this problem and the steering column was replaced a couple months back. The steering lock icon appear on the display in yellow (car wont start)and it getting worst, the icon flashing between yellow and red.

It happened to me the last few weeks and right now i'm fed up about this steering lock problem. For those who already got this fixed, does it happen again afterward?
