I hope so too. However I was curious because I think I found something worth exploring on my own and seeing if it fixes the problem. Check out this thread.

bringing this back from the dead.. Ever since I swapped to hawk HPS pads, I was getting some brake squeak at lower speeds. It would only occur when the brakes had been warmed up from driving a bit, and I only noticed it in the afternoons while in stop and go traffic. I just figured it was the pads, and closed the window so I couldn't hear it.

Now that the weather is cooling off, I've been driving more with the windows open, and noticed it was only coming from the left front. Thinking back to this thread, I checked the brake sensor this weekend. I actually didn't really check it as much as I reached back there and pushed on it and sort of bent the arm a bit more.

To my surprise, on the way home yesterday, in stop and go traffic, the squeak was practically gone. I got a couple of really short chirps when applying the brakes, but none of the constant squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak, squeak, I was getting at low speeds.

so check your brake sensors!

I pushed on it and pressed it in toward the hub. tried to make sure it was seated all the way in the pad. I was hoping maybe I'd bend the arm a little bit and figured I'd either make it better or worse - but as long as something changed with the noise, I would know it wasn't the brake pads, and wouldn't need to fuss with taking the pads off and putting more anti squeal on the backing plate.

so now I know it's the sensor, and whatever I did luckily made the noise go away.

I'm getting the same noise now.. . started a few weeks ago.. VERY freaking irritating ... my car is an E92 2007, just hit 30K miles ..

I'm in my extended warranty right now and am really not looking forward to pay deductible if the dealer can't fix my issue.. .

Same problem I have. In stop and go traffic when Im rolling forward slowly I will hear the squeaking noise from the front pass side. When I accelarate quick, or press on the brakes no noise. I even jacked it up and checked if something was loose or if my pads were low. From read the other posts about this issue, I have to check on my sensor. Since thats the only part I didnt mess, but pretty sure that will remedy it.

Same issue here. Noise when starting after the car has been driven for a while. Noise stops after 20-30 mph and on. Also no noise when brakes are applied. For a while I thought it had to do something with the parking brake but I'm not sure. Dealer and independent shop could not diagnose.

Well, winter has come and I guess maybe the cool weather is affecting the pads, but the noise for me seems to have disappeared. I am CERTAIN it will come back though.

Btw, I brought it into the dealer and explained the problem. I wasn't able to test drive it with them, as the brakes aren't making the sound anymore. The SA told me even if there was an issue, it wouldn't be covered under Extended Warranty. Just an FYI for those who want the dealer to address the noise.

So, is there a certain fix to all of this? Problem for sure is the brake sensors? I most likely will try to fix it myself once the weather warms up again.

oh man now I have this problem too! @#$%$#@!!!!

i slammed on the brakes once and it went away for 10 mins and then came back. asked BMW about it and they wouldn't even look at it, said thats just how it is, and they would "hate to charge me the labor hours during the service only to not find anything". so i decided going with new brake upgrades is the solution when spring/summer comes around. bbk are ridiculously expensive so i think I'm going to go with the following setup.

1) R1 Concepts Premium Slotted Rotors
2) stop tech or cool carbon pads (haven't decided yet, any suggestions? i don't track the car only daily driver and spirited driving)
3) new sensors

Are you able to make a video of what you did exactly and post it up??
