I think that symbol means that the car has an idea, it is for you to read the manual.

If no codes are being thrown use Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner (concentrate). It solves rpm fluctuating upon cold start-up. Also, for most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the Peake Research Tool. It contains the actual BMW codes. If you want to register a newly installed battery for free (just buy a $10 cable) and google/download BMWLogger

it means that a bulb on your car is not working, i have this problem, was due to the small wedge inside my headlights (non xenons) took me forever to notice. my advice is to turn on all lights including hazard and walk around the car slowly. there's no way to check through the dash

you can use your dash to find out what bulb it out. I was reading this in my Bentley Manual the other day.
If message is stored (icon other than check ok) press the BC on the turn signal lever and hold for 4 sec. Then screen should come up with "CC-ID XXX" there is 445 codes that this can come up with. when you get the code PM me i can tell you what one it is.
