I just clicked 92000 miles. I have no idea if the pump was been done as I got the 330i at 87000.

Is there any way I can visually inspect for a replaced pump or read codes??

I guess you could visually inspect the pump and see if it's a cleaner/brighter shade of aluminum than the surrounding engine parts, but other than that I don't think you would be able to tell, since the codes would be cleared once the pump is replaced.

The big question is are these "newer" pumps more reliable? No point in replacing a pump that will fail again at 50k.

Also, it is hard to gauge in how many "miles" the car was driven. A person who does 95% highway will have more miles than "stop and go" but both cars would have been running for the same amount of hours. Life of electronics are usually measured by the hours they are on, aside from other operating conditions.

I'm at 135k miles.

Lots of autocross but just 6 track days.

Car's well maintained, I use Mike Millers schedule.

Also 2 bottles of Red Line Water Wetter after my bi yearly coolant change. I have always put that in my cars, I think I remember it lubed the pump for longevity.. but the failure of the n52 pump is due to the electric motor, not the usual water pump mechanical stuff wearing out.

I got a nice bonus (because I'm pretty cool at my job lol) so I think I am going to do a proactive pump and stat sway/ new hoses before I take my dad to the Detroit car show next month. I'd hate to be doing 90 mph on some desolate stretch of highway in Ontario and have that thing shit the bed.

Time to reply to my own thread, did mine as part of preventive maintenance. Last thing I wanted was to find out I was stranded on the way back from a track 5 hours away with a $500 tow bill. Also knowing a coolant flush would have to be performed, got the oil filter housing gasket done same time.

a. 63,000 miles
b. bought new parts on classifieds for $300, labor was 3hrs at $300
c. indy
d. no damage
e. about 8 road courses per year
f. manual

+1.

To answer this question there should be another poll that only collects
data from 2009+ model year cars. I beleive those have the latest version of waterpump installed from the factory.
