We all know the lovely status of my car right now just chillin at the shop
Im pretty sure this can/will work please tell me otherwise and explain reasons to why not. this is just a proposal. i might test it out on my car when i get my turbos and when its back up and running. but in the meantime just wanted to throw this out there. Enjoy. |

Pretty good idea, it will definitely work. One suggestion, maybe put the aftermarket core after the factory one. I feel like since the factory one has coolant running through it, it might warm it back up.

Mine is after the heat exchanger which mimics the M3 setup. I also have a T-stat that opens at 180F to dovert flow to or away from the cooler when temps are over or under 180F. This allows for appropriate warming of the tranny fluid before the accesory cooler come into play. |

My car is in the shop with an apparent electrical gremlin that is difficult to diagnose... but after 3 weeks it looks like we may have found the cuplrit. Unfortunately this electrical problem came about right after I got the cooler installed. This electrical problem is NOT RELATED to the AT cooler and a completely separate issue as the temp sensors are not even wired in yet. I was able to prove with an IR temp sensor that the outlet temps are 20F lower than the inlet temps of the accessory cooler. However this is only of the hoses so I would assume the actual fluid temps are more substantial. I will post pics and all info I can as soon as I get my car back and get some realtime data with the temp sensors wired into my gauge.
I expect to get the car back this week and then wire in the gauge and sensors this weekend. So hopefully by this weekend I can post all the juicy details. |

I want more pics of people's setups. I'm thinking of routing mine where the PPK radiator goes, maybe a 15 row setrab unit? How necessary is the T-stat?

Any updates on this? How did you connect the oil cooler to the heat exchanger and factory lines? Anyone just get rid of the factory heat exchanger and do an oil cooler/thermostat setup?

Check the "other" n54 forum for custom fittings that are available and coolers/thermostats being used.

Anyone have any results on this? I like the idea of putting the aftermarket before factory exchanger.. This will help warm up time better than aftermarket cooler after exchanger (in my head anyways). Might have to take the plunge when doing my intercooler..
Also in the pic with the heat exchanger which is inlet and outlet side??. Piggy back thread for other engines also.. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showt...2#post25843542 Last edited by TunafishE93; 02-23-2020 at 05:14 PM.. |

I am about to finish mine (don’t mind that plastic shield as it will be done in aluminum instead).
Does anyone know the size/dimensions or part No. of oem o-rings that are two in each of the stock hoses/quick connectors? I am talking about those that connect to the oem heat exchanger (mines are leaking and I can not find this info).
