BMW Canada Corrosion Warranty

I'm taking the E91 into the Dealer on Friday to inspect the rust on the rear door/hatch. Has anyone any experience with "BMW's 12 year Unlimited Mileage" Corrosiion Warranty?

If so please post your experience, looking for tips to make my warranty claim successful.

Unfortunely I think the warranty is pretty much a gimmick/scam. I believe the fine print mentions that you need to bring your car in for service X amount of years so that it gets inspected for the rust and only then the warranty is valid.

That's what I've heard, I've only had the car for 1.5 years.

I'm hoping someone posts a success story to see what they did right.
I'm up for a fight if need be.

Garage List
As well as that^^ IIRC it has to be an actual hole through the panel due to rust

This is what they asked me when I came in to check.
I even told them:
Would you give me the service records from the previous owners if I asked for them? No.
So, how am I supposed to be able to prove this to you?
And can you tell me the last time you had a customer in here with a 11-year old car who had all the paperwork?
After blank stares, I just repeated my point that it feels like just a marketing ploy.

In my experience, VW is the best for this. I had rear hatch and fender replaced free of charge and the car was 11 years and 10 months inths old.

No such luck with Audi. They only offered to go 50/50 on a fender job, which was $700 (my portion). I just found a matching fender for $90 and replaced it myself.

Good luck!
