335d Suspension Upgrade Results (Suspension Forum)

Hi Diesel Lovers,
As some know, I recently had some major suspension upgrade work done. I plan to post a two or three-part commentary on the results in the suspension and brakes forum. This is for those who are interested and never visit that forum.

I would definitely like to see your write up. BTW if you are willing to share, what was the total cost? Part & labor?

BTW, the write up is over in Suspension-Brakes-Chassis, but no one is looking at it. 8-(((

Ok, I know it's not spectacular. -_-

I have all the pics, but unlike cosmetics (drops, wheels, diffusers, etc.) pics, they can best be characterized as car mechanics geek porn.

But am out west becoming a first-time grandparent so the pics won't be posted until > 4 April.

These cars can hardly be considered investments where you stand to get a great ROI other than the non-monetary pleasure of driving it. I have mostly successfully put those financial considerations out of my mind other than "can I afford to do this." I keep cars such a long time that it doesn't matter much. I hope the D to be one of these.

You have to account for the $3,000 or so for the Quaife ATB as well as ALL the labour that was done to the car. The GC camber plates he added alone are $400+ as an example. Throw in the AC Schnitzer M3 Sport Springs, JRZ RS1 dampers set and you're looking at some top notch solid pieces right there.

He's added more pieces than what the BMW performance one offers.

The JRZ dampers alone were about the same materials cost as the Quaife.

Either way, don't forget the roughly 2.4k in m3 bits and bushings. . Fun adds up fast.

CONGRATS ON THE NEW ADDITION TO THE DFAN FAMILY, SIR!!! Are we expecting a spoiled grandson or spoiled granddaughter?

Ps. Don't forget, most of us are into car mechanics geek porn.

Isn't riding in the spoiled 335d spoiling in and of itself?

My dad and i said the same thing about not spoiling my daughter...then we were reminded that grandma shares his bank account.... inevitable I suppose.

Again, congrats! We'll have to get a Congrats Grandpa dFan meet together when you get back so you can show off the new mods.

dFan, want to pick a HPDE and we'll both sign up (I'll be your "bring a friend")? I wouldn't mind having a diesel brother on the track with me for my first HPDE (and I'd love to be left in the dust around & out of the bends by your newly-upgraded ride). I was thinking Summit Point in May, but did you mention that there was something else happening in April?

The Delaware chapter has their HPDE in April but I think it is on the same day as the Pie Run and I doubt I will have my summer wheels and tires by then. Rather not run on my winters. So that means May at the earliest. I have been delaying because of uncertainty about my condition but things seem to be heading in the right direction so maybe I will be positive and sign up. But for me it will not include Sunday. If the May HPDE is the 3-day one, I was thinking about Monday actually. Remember you need a helmet and an inspection. It would be good to have a colleague who can nag me when I start getting white knuckles. And I have already done it once.
