Limits of Stock Charge Pipe

I have made the decision to go catless to round out my car. Any thoughts on the limits of the stock charge pipe? I am wondering if I should drop in a new charge pipe to support the added boost I will be able to run as a result of reduced back pressure.

I hit 14 psi on the dyno today with full catted setup. The stock pipe is pretty squishy and was wondering what its limits would be and should I get a more rigid charge pipe.

Thanks in advance for the input.

personally I think the stock pipe is "ok". The issue is that once you start reaching higher boost levels, the stock charge pipe "pops off". This is due to a combination of oil accumulation (due to a lack of a catch can) and the inherent design of the mechanism BMW put on to clamp the stock pipe to the throttle body (I think that is the TB right)? Anyways, I have the riss racing charge pipe with the forge DV's; its a good combo but I wouldn't count on any measurable gains on the dyno.

I think the push on clamp that hooks to the throttle body is about as cheesy as they come and i can definatly see how these cars would leak boost right there with that push on clamp. i would definatly either replace that clamp with a real one, or replace the whole pipe. Go grap the stock pipe and wiggle it around and you can see movement of where the pipe connects to the throttle body.

I got it instead of the elbow as I wouldn't want it popping off and spraying methanol all over my engine bay..glad they tightened it today over at champ..

Ya, not thinking I will get gains but I want to avoid power losses due to leakage.

i had issues with my charge pipe popping off... but I used an extra washer on the charge pipe support and bent in the clip attaching the charge pipe to the throttle body. Never had an issue with the charge pipe again. I should post a DIY one of these days.
