Matt (and SerJames) really sorry to hear this news. Good to hear that you have things in motion to get it fixed asap though. As has been mentioned, just watch out for yourself in terms of whiplash, delayed effects etc.

Matt, sorry to hear of this & hope you are ok. Please get checked out for whiplash. Definatley looks like your car is better built. Comforting about BMW insurance, glad I'm with them now.
For James, that is bloody awful!! So sorry about your car. Glad to hear you appear to be ok though. I won't rant about foreign lorry drivers, it would take too long. |

I've had a poke around under the back this evening with the old torch (maglite not glovebox) and it all looks surprisingly normal. Even the crash bar with the deformable mounting pillars (see below) looks to be in good nick. All of the exhaust mountings I can see look fine as well. But we'll see what they find when they take it apart.

It was a '96 (not sure what mark that is) and had a full 75hp from the 1.25litre lump!
You gotta start somewhere!

Sorry to hear your bad news.
The good news is the back ends are designed to be strong to take impacts while the fronts are designed to crumple to absorb the impact and protect the occupants, hence the apparently more damaged e46. Hope you get it sorted soon and to your satisfaction. Regards Chris

Cheltenham. No bodyshop in Gloucester. Though the bodyshop is moving to Tewkesbury and a new £2million facility.

Well it's in the bodyshop now, and I'm driving a 330d SE in black.
All I'll say for now (after driving 1 mile) is I'm glad I went for the MSport.

If they're swapping the rear bumper, and you can nab the old one, I'd be interested....
...oh, and "bad luck, hope you're alright" and all that

Cheers Viv. The 3rd parties insurers have accepted full liability, so things should hopefully proceed as they should. The job card rasied by the bodyshop suggested it would be four days work, so there's a slim chance of getting it back for the dyno day, but I've told them I want it right, not quick.

They can take as long as they need to get it right. Thanks to the people that the dealership work with I've got an E91 330d for however long it takes, rather than a Mini if it had been me at fault. I won't tempt fate and take that bet.
