320d Loaner
Got the X5 in for new pads all round and got a loan car.
Now, I know a few on here have 4-pots....... but WHY THE FUNK would you ?!?!? It's quite quick, deceptively so, but the engine note is duller than reading a telephone directory. A BMW should have 6, 8, 10 or 12 cylinders..... 4 is just wrong and should be banned! Oh... can you guess which dealer it's from? |

Hi Biscuits. One one the reasons I got rid of my E92 320d was the noise it made.
Although BMW have made an attempt to improve things. The companies 520D GT sounds no where near as harsh. And coupled with the 8sp auto really is a nice thing. Are you still blasting up the A249? |

Did'nt they start off with 4cyl's? Was the fist M3 not a 4cyl?
I am a massive fan of the I6, and am considering a 6cyl next. Which is why I may be chaning mine. Its just a bit of a redundent statement. No one would have a four if they could run a six. Why would you have a 6 if you could have a 8? Why would you have a BMW if you could have a Porshe? Why would you have a porsche if you could have a ferrari so on until you get to a Veryon......? To each their own. |

I get your point APL320d... but then what's the point in living if we all die in the end ?!?!?!?!? I'd rather a used 6cyl than a new 4cyl |

I did own a 318d E91 M sport plus for 2 years before i got the 330d.
Yes the 6 pot sounds nicer, well as nice as D can sound and a little more fun to drive but i do miss the old E91. not to offend you Biscuits, but I'm not slagging off everybody who owns a 4 pot BMW |

I guess the same could be said for people who buy diesels? Why buy a diesel? If you want an engine note buy a petrol. Maybe cost and fuel consumption come into it?

Negative interest rates, massive youth unemployment across Europe, petrol/diesel prices still up constantly, general rubbish pay for everyone....I think the number of cylinders in a BMW is going to be heading downwards in the coming years rather than the other way round ...It's all well and good promoting the "live for the moment" concept but bad loans/living beyond your means is what got the world in such a mess in the first place!!

SO it was a four then.....
Pop on a decent back box, drop the rear seats and smile as you look where it says 44.5mpg on the dash. Basic economics drives Statler, he's tried the big six thing and it didn't get on with his wallet.... |
