M4 Really Worth It??
Hey All,
I recently sold my Corvette C6 for numerous reasons; the primary being that I just can't get away with 2 seats anymore. I'm now faced with a serious dilemma and I'd like to get some input. The new M4 goes on sale in June and the specs have finally been released. I definitely like the looks (aggressive yet sleek) and BMW seems to have added a lot of improvements. The ~425hp and ~405lb/ft of torque, new differential, better stearing, and differing track settings are great features but I'm wondering if there are better options worth pursuing. I guarantee I won't be able to touch a decent one for under $70-75K. I recently found a lightly used E92 335 with M-Sport and it's fully loaded with mods (including JB4, coilovers, BBK, etc). It has no track time and is in pristine shape (only 13,100 miles). I'm trying to answer the question of "is the M4 actually worth it?" Any good input would be helpful. Thanks. |

the 335 will still look like the one from 2007 while the M4 is a brand new design. That alone is enough to get the new model
If you were debating between a 2011 m3 and a 2012 335 fully modded then I ll probably say get the 335. But the M4 is in a different league at the moment If money is not an issue I would get the m4. |

You're really comparing a generation old 335i with the brand-new, yet to be on sale M4? C'mon man. If you can shell out the $$$, M4 all day. No comparison.

Nope. A $65,000 C7 Corvette is better than M4 in almost every category. But BMWs never sell because of their "value."
I wouldn't get the M4 right out the gate. The 335, you can buy tomorrow, put some miles on it, then sell it and buy the M4 in a year or two for 30-40% cheaper than that sticker price. We all don't know your finances and if you can swing $80k for an M4 and don't think twice about it, go ahead and buy it. You could probably buy the 335i too to tide you over til June; relatively, it won't lose you much in depreciation. |

If you've got money to spend. I would get the m4 man. The m4 looks sexy and sleek and it's going to be a hit when it gets released. It looks aggressive as hell. Just a monster. Yes the 335 is a good buy but not the same as a m4

I'd buy the 335, keep it for a few years and have some fun, sell it and then take stock on what's out for what price again
Look I understand that BMW's are more than HP but $75k+ for 425hp and 400fl/lbs is just out of hand. You could do that with a 335 with a $479 chip and some E85 in your gas tank. |

in 2 years everyone will have the 4 series coupe and more people will be able to afford the m4 so it won't be a rare find. If you have the cash why no buy something very few people are going to have If I had the cash I would love to buy the new 4 series. Very few people will have it in the first 2 years of production , after that everyone will jump because of the price . Ill wait 3 years probably but that's because I can not afford a car over 30 000 right now |

Just buy a CTS-V. It will be like home to you.
If you need 4 seats for anything, then you're probably better off with 4 doors also.

Of the various variations of F32-like cars, the M4 is going to be the best performing and most rarefied.
Is it worth it? That depends on your own set of priorities. I certainly wouldn't ask other folks that question because when it comes to my money and my lifestyle, I'm the best person to answer that question. The only way for me to know is to put my own butt behind the wheel and drive the car, assuming I have the cash to spend on it. I can tell you it's probably not worth paying thousands more for an M4 at dealer X than at dealer Y. I can tell you that if all you really want is basic transportation, you can have that for about 1/4th the price of an M4 and I can tell you that there are certainly cars that will outperform the M4 and there are cars that will match the M4 for performance. If I don't have the money to spend, it's certainly not worth going deeply into debt and becoming "car poor" for it. I don't think it's wise to delegate one's value assessment to others, not even to professional car reviewers, unless one wants to spend the money and then blame someone else for one's dissatisfaction. All the best.

The 335i is perfect for my daily driving habits. I don't intend on tracking the car, so the M4 would feel like a waste to me. However, I do love how it looks, especially those rims. Would I buy one? Probably not, I'm quite satisfied with my Belle. Base it on your needs.

PSU, you should DEF get the M4. Especially since Penn State finally settled with you about that whole Sandusky thing you went through when u were a kid.
