Timmayfest 2012 ~ June 8th and 9th 2012 ~ Columbus, Ohio

When: June 8th and 9th, 2012

WHAT: Timmayfest is a Nation Wide BMW/Mercedes Benz/Exotics car meet put together by true enthusiasts. It is not a car "show" and there is no entrance fee. It is just a gathering of people who share a passion for high performance driving machines. We had 130 cars in 2010 and over 200 cars in 2011. We have people attending from all over the country, CA, GA, FL, NY, MD, PA, MI, IN, MN, KY, TN, VA, for example. It is a chance to finally meet some of the people we talk to every day on this wonderful forum!

Friday June 8th - Drag Night, 4pm - 11pm - Eurocharged has graciously PRIVATELY RENTED the Marion County International Raceway for our use. MCIR is a 1/4 drag strip. There is no charge to attend and watch, but there will be a $50 fee for anyone wishing to race to help pay for the track rental. Remember, this event is for BMW/Mercedes/Exotic cars only. We had a lot of fun last year. It is a great chance to line up against your friends and put your cars to the test. This is not overly formal. There are plenty of safety rules, but you don't have to be an experienced drag racer to participate. Last year was my first time ever on a drag strip!

We would like to meet for lunch around 12pm or 1pm on June 8th, then travel as a group (caravan style) to the drag strip. We will announce the lunch location later. It is about an hour away from the hotels/Quaker Steak and Lube. We are shooting to arrive around 3-4pm so everyone can prep their cars and get ready for a night of FUN!

I will be starting a separate thread for "Drag Night" soon.

Marional County International Raceway
2303 Richwood-Larue Road
La Rue, OH 43332-9293

Saturday June 9th - Timmayfest 2012, 10am-4pm - We are meeting at the same venue as last 2 years, Quaker Steak and Lube in Polaris. It is a very convenient location with plenty of hotels, restaurants, and the Polaris Mall right across the street. We will of course have a DJ spinning some tunes, and plenty of vendors with items on display.

Quaker Steak and Lube
8500 Lyra Drive
Columbus, OH 43240

Saturday June 9th - Post Meet Dinner/Police Escort, 6pm-7pm - We are hiring a police escort this year to travel to the restaurant. We will meet behind the Hilton Hotel (8700 Lyrad Drive) at 5:45-6:00pm to be lined up by our police escort, departing at 6:30pm, dinner scheduled for 7pm at La Scala Italian Bistro.

Here is a note from an officer concerning a police escort:

"Seriously though guys, not to scare everyone, but a full blown escort by 2 cruisers and 2 bikes is serious business. We can't have guys jumping line and acting like idiots. You will never know when a bike is flying up at 120mph to get the next on ramp blocked. If you jump line, it could cause serious injury to that officer. If you can't follow the rules during this 15 mile escort, you will be asked to not attend dinner, and you WILL be ticketed. So please, everyone act responsibly and let's have a blast!"

If you wish to not participate in the escort and just meet us at the restaurant, that is fine too. Dinner reservations are set at 7pm.

nice! and hi Tim, is this event also going to be a charitable event as in the past, I assume Make A Wish Foundation again? And is there another raffle in the works?

Seth has already been in touch about the getting logo and the like put together again this year. Give me a shout (either of you) if you got any ideas for me!!! Since it is once again called Timmayfest and I thought last year was the end of that haha.

We may be donating to The Wounded Warrior Project this year. The wife is looking into it this week. We have been in contact with some wounded ex military folks who will be in attendance who are enthusiasts like us!

I am working on getting some rough work put together for the shirt. I REALLY appreciate everything you and Seth have done to help out. The shirts would not happen without you guys! Thank you! I have some ideas, but have absolutely NO skills for this type of thing. Thoughts in doing a "sketch" outline of the cars this year for the picture? Something like this:

I have the cars picked out, just need to get the owners to send me the correct angle to transfer over to the sketch......

Well, I WANTED to change the name. We kicked around quite a few ideas, but everything was either to hokey or too "serious" for the overall tone of the meet. I guess Timmayfest it is. Again.

Ya we had a good size caravan last year, I would expect it to be even bigger this year. Drive isn't bad at all.
