i posted the same question in the regional threads because i would love to move to FL but more south FL, tampa/clearwater is nice. im also 26 and IT.

finding a job then moving would be your best bet. if you really want out im sure you can find the odd jobs (sales, barback/tending) down there until you find a real one. i would rather have something more permanent. I have yet to get a response back to any resume i have sent down there. im sure my current location doesn't help and if i lived in FL i may have a better chance.

the economy still sucks and my current job is very secure so thats another reason for me staying rather then getting up and leaving

funny this thread was posted...i'm in IT and i was also considering a move to FL for a change of scenery. so serious about it that i've been actively responding to CL ads and realtors. i don't depend on my job for income though.

we used to have a condo in sarasota as a child, now i'm looking to move somewhere in that area. the beaches are amazing.

it's fun in the tampa/st. pete area. depends on what you're looking for though. it's more chill here in the burg than in tampa, for instance.

beach it up all the time.

St. Pete is great, especially if you like outdoor/water activities. Fishing, kayaking, windsurfing, boating etc. We like it so much we bought a house in the old NE part of town.

Downtown St. Pete is different though. It's definitely a melting-pot, non-suburban feel. You can have a homeless bum sleeping on a bench 100 feet from a 5 million dollar house.

The crime is going up as the economy is going down though.

I've never lived in Miami, but have a few friends that do and they hate it. They say: dirt, slime, grime, crime.

Ya +1 to the OP... I gotta move down south, get out of this shitty province. I hate the winter, the cold and the rain and there's just too much of that here.

Once I'm done school and in the job market... I'm hittng up Florida or Cali, preferably Cali.

The first time I drove my 335 on Ocean, I felt like the working poor. There were 335s left and right surrounded by exotic beauties that put me to shame. I love my Miami visits, but would probably get myself into trouble if I lived/worked there.

You must be forgetting the race riots St. Pete had a while back when talking of crime

It all depends where in Miami you are just like the Tampa / Pinellas County area.

I personally grew up in Pinellas Park where you can have trailer parks next to gated golf course communities...lots of horse ranches too for whatever reason.

I wouldn't say Miami is the best place to raise a family if you're aiming to have kids soon.

If you are single there are overall more and better looking women here than anywhere else I've been. Strangely enough I find Montreal coming in second to it in that category It isn't for everyone but if you're young and looking to get the most out of life the right places in Miami will not disappoint.

Ocean is a riot for that.

16-17 year olds are given new M3s in high school here

Tampa is a cesspool, IMO. It's like Orlando but on the water.

And you never realize how badass the water is until you don't have it.

Beaches are basically a requirement for a good living place imo.

Lived in miami for 12 years, now living in houston. I go back to miami and yes, I do miss it, however, commuting SUCKS there...TOOOOOO crowded, and i'm not talking rush hour, i'm talking every hour.

I'd move a bit north in the fort lauderdale area. Tampa is nice from what i've heard but don't know much about it...

+1

Lauderdale has a very laid-back atmosphere with good nightlife, but not as crazy as Miami.
