Pre LCI alignment, are SE and Sport Pack different?
Im having a bit of a debate with a local garage that are doing my Alignment (following a new track rod end going on).
My car is a 2005 325i with Sport Pack, which includes Sport Suspension. Id imagine that means I have basically the same suspension setup as an M-Sport. When they aligned it, the printout simply said: E90 2005 with Standard Suspension. I argued that their machine likely hadnt taken into account the fact I'm running a sport suspension setup, and would like them to check it again. So for those in the know, do the Sport and SE setups have different alignment settings, or am I worrying needlessly? When the car went in, it hadnt been aligned in all my time owning it, and the rears had no unusual wear, yet they are suggesting the rear camber was reasonably out (by about 0.20) COmments and opinions are very much appreciated |

I doubt it has different angle settings, only the rideheight would be different between the models.
Can you scan and post up your pre & post alignment printout that they should have given you, then we can have a look. |

i'll do that when it comes back today.
At the least I wanted them to sort out the fact my steering wheel was off to the right when they finished. So even if they decide the suspension specs are the same, i'd like to have my wheel back where it was i'll post up the specs this evening when I get it back. |

Are you sure that you have M sports suspension? I may be wrong, but I have been told that M sports suspension tracking is different to SE (standard settings) and I was show that on the computer when I had my allignment done last year.

well if you use the VIN decoder, it comes back with:
-Sports Suspension and as I also have the sports seats, sport steering wheel and Staggered Sports package alloys, i'd imagine that I do indeed have sport suspension my car also sits a fair bit lower than a standard SE |

i tell ya... S226A is a confusing package.
as far as I can tell in RealOEM, the front and rear shocks are different from a standard E90 but not the same as M-Sport, The Anti Roll bars are the same as M sport, and springs i don't know because RealOEM wont tell you about springs. |

ok here we go....
https://www.dropbox.com/s/wdmuoy776r...%2018%2028.jpg they said camber settings were different for the sport model. they have made the changes. Car feels great to drive, steering is dead straight, no drift and cornering is nice (even though it leans a bit more without the RFTs lol) Last edited by shrink; 04-25-2013 at 12:17 PM.. |

try that link seems that BMW engineered some half way house between SE and M sport... with tougher shocks and different ride height. |

Excessive rear camber takes ages to develop unusual tyre wear. Excessive toe will scrub the edges off the tyre pretty quickly.

thing is the rear tyres are over a year old, and there was no unusual wear!
but anyways, they have now aligned it according to a 2005 E90 Sport model. and IMHO the car drives perfectly. |

Seems pretty good. Gave it a good kicking tonight and TC kicked in as the rear tried to step out once, so under steer seems tame enough.
I miss the crisp sharp turn in of the run flats, but will get used to that in time |
