Installation on my 335xi went along smoothly without a single hitch (not even low battery warnings). Power is incredible but for the first time on my xi I've been getting traction control going crazy and cutting all power in a straight line. Is anyone else experiencing this? Is the power really too much for 4 wheels? It seems to kick in halfway through first and sometimes a bit through second under WOT. I don't actually feel any slippage or notice any indication of wheel spin. When I turn the traction control off it's back to normal; I don't get any wheel squealing or anything like that, even if I brake boost off the line.
Is traction control kicking in too early or is the traction loss below what I can notice? |

I got my AP this week. I tried installing it yesterday and was unable to. I am having the same issues some of the 07 MTs are having. My is an 07 MT with a build date of Feb 07. Everytime it gets to downloading the settings from the factory ECU at 2 percent my windshield wipers start going up and down, and at 3 percent it loses connection with the ECU. I tried uninstalling the software and than reuploading the software. Still no luck. I tried a different OBD cable but that was unsuccessful. I had my friend unmarry his Cobb from his car and than tried it on mine that was unsuccessful. Anything else I should try or should I just wait until the 21st when somebody is actually taking there car to Cobb?

I hope this issue gets resolved soon because I'm dying to install the Cobb. Will try and clean out the OBD II port. Whats the best way or best thing to use when cleaning the port out?

I have the same issue as everyone else here does. but I was able to get the Cobb installed. I tried for about an hour and half before it worked. you will need a battery charger. This is what worked for me. not sure if it will work for you guys. try this at your own risk I am by no means an expert at Cobb or BMW tuning. I unplugged everything that is not installed on the car, disable your bluetooth devices, unplugged my Ipod, unplugged my Radar detector. I updated the Cobb unit to the Beta version and deleted all the maps that I installed on the Cobb AP. plugged in the Cobb closed all the doors had the windows down. I also had the hood open with a Battery charge on it. I went in to the Cobb menu and went into the recovery section and the AP unit started to rebuild my stock tune. this failed about a dozen times before it finished. every time it failed I would unplug everything and start over. on the attempt before it worked it got to about 90% then failed when this happened I just hit the Start button off and back on and ran it again, at that point it made it to 100%. unplugged everything reinstalled the map on the AP and started the install once again, I did not shut the car off at this point. the first time it went through. I did have a Dinan Flash so my scenario of rebuilding the stock tune could have been attributed to that.
Good Luck Thanks, Jorge Quote:

I am also in the same situation. Finally got it to install but still fails when trying to unintall or change maps.
The Cobb AP works fine when plugged in to view the cars vitals and logs. no lose in connection. I've been running it for 5 days connected it has not lost connection yet while the car is on. so I doubt it's the OBDII port being dirty. I'm debating going to my Dinan Dealer or BMW and having them try to reflash the DME but not sure what happens to the Cobb, as in once installed to a car it locks to that car unitl you unistall it to realease the AP Lock. The question is what happens to the Cobb AP once the Dealer or Dinan flashes the ECU and the Cobb was not uninstalled? do I now have a 900 dollar paper wait? will I still be able to return it? Will Cobb unlock the unit? or does the AP recognize the VIN and unlock the unit once plugged in and notices the flash is not there? If anyone has any answer or suggestions I would love to hear them. The best suggestin would be to talk with CObb. As far as I know the Cobb is not vin locked. Once you unmarry it from your car, your free to install it on any other.

I will call them today. That is correct it does not VIN lock, but it does get married to the car. The issue I am having is I cannot uninstall the AP from the car, with that said I will basically be blowing over the Cobb tune without bieng able to unmarry the AP. what will happen to the Cobb AP that is married to the car? thats what I'll call Cobb and ask him.

yea you have to unmarry it for it to be worth anything to another owner who wants it for their car... i know Cobb charges a 2-400 dollar service for unlocking the unit if its still married to another car. I'm sure they would waive that fee if your having the issue uninstalling it the proper way

I just called Cobb about the issue for the AP loading 2-4 percent and unfortunately the people who are having this issue are probably going to have to wait a couple weeks. I gave them my info that way they can keep me informed of what's going on. Unfortunately at this time they only thing I can do is wait.

Lol that would be awesome!!! I'm in it for the long haul. I'd rather tune my car through the OBD II port insead of constantly having to go into the ECU to uninstall the JB or Vishnu. Please so far from the numbers I have see the Cobb is pretty impressive on these cars. It just sucks that only a few of us are having this issue.
