+1 Why don't you go for an e46 M3. When I was looking for a car two years ago, I saw a great deal on autotrader. It was 2000 or 2001 e46 M3, yes it had 100000 miles, but it was the original owner and therefore the car was in a great condition! Plus, it was Laguna Seca on peanut butter brown lol. It was a nice and rare combo too. The dealer asked for $10k. Too bad I missed it.... However, long story short try to look around and wait for the right opportunity. GL!

Lol, come on man. Look at the car as a whole, forget useless crap. If you want a ZHP, that means you crave the springs, cams, m-tech, trim as a whole. If you just like the steering wheel, thats an easy job, and you could get a cheaper regular 330i.

Focus on whats important, you could save lots of money.

Good point but the fact still stands if something should break (and it will even on a well maintained 100k mile car) his repair costs could seriously break his piggy bank.

Plus the navs on those e46 are outdated anyway and doesn't look as good as the navs in the e9Xs with their i drive You are only going for driving experience anyway if you get a BMW. 6MT, Sport Package AND RWD! That's all you need lol

They are far more durable than non-Ms, especially when referring to the e46 m3.

Thing is, the chances of repair are lower, but when it does break, the M parts are more expensive.

Between the two, you're standing on the same fire.

ZHP is sports with a few tweaks...

Stiffer springs, M-tech body pieces, aluminum interior trim, and 10hp advantage due to more aggressive cams.

Get a 330, some springs, that wheel you like, wrap the trim in aluminum, and chip it. You'll have something close to a zhp for alot less.

Really? I've heard the complete opposite. Sold my e46 330ci cause the thing was falling apart. 56k miles my AC went out, and I had a cracked rim. I heard the M3's are 10x worse from other people's personal experiences. Have you had one?

My friend had a 2001 M3 the thing ran like perfectly but he did spend a lot of time maintaining it.

Yep, you can never really trust what you heard until you've heard the same from a large enough group. Thats what I learned, because I usually have a completely different experience than a friend, for example. I would have problems when his is running fine, and I would have no problems with another model, while he would have a nightmare of the same model. Everybody's car is different.

I owned an E46 M3 alongide the 330ci. Based on the M3 community and my experience, it was solid. If you were to drive the 330 the same way, it would have been done. Likewise, had I driven the e46 m3 calmly, it would have done 250k no problem, but I sold it right at the 100k mark so I wouldnt lose value. It ran flawlessly up to that point though.

My 330ci ran very well too, mechanically. The minor things went out, but that was not a problem. The m3 was more reliable for me, and most of the people I know.

I didn't maintain mine vigorously, but it ran well under harsh treatment, all the time.

Whats up with these quote errors?

Okay thanks. Would you reccomend an e92 328i/335i or an e46 M3? I'm in the market for one and really havn't been too serious about buying one because I've been worried about having to do repairs all the time. I'm not looking to get into a car that's gonna cost me a fortune just to keep up as I'm only 19 and don't make enough money to be doing that haha. Was looking at buying this one, what would be a good price for it?

Fixed the quotes, yes!

No problem. You really need to drive both.

The e46 m3 is RAW power, 332 natural horses with an exhaust rasp to die for.

335i is a torque beast but certainly isnt a track oriented vehicle, and the feedback isn't as sharp.

I have a 325xi with the n52 naturally aspirated. I love the howl of the I6 and wouldn't replace it
