LCI iDrive control knob in pre LCI

Check it out, a member contacted me and ask me if this was possible. I have already tested the knob out and yes it works on pre LCI. Each button works perfectly. So I decided to go ahead and got the pieces together. Of course the LCI is so new that the trim was not available. To my surprise the control unit itself was available. So i ordered the knob and custom fitted the knob onto the trim. I went and got the closest matching leather to the M3 uses to wrap the trim. Install will follow as soon as I get that member to my place.

I just took the M3 leather trim in and found a close match.

wait so the buttons work as shortcuts? If thats the case Im all over it. Im confused.You just plug it in to the factory plug and all the shortcut buttons actually work? please tell me thats the case and if so how much is the control unit? Order me one..lol I need this mod.

yes, it will allow you to do the shortcuts. its plug and play. but the trim have to be custom. I am still waiting for the LCI trim to be available.

wow! Im really surprised it works perfectly. Im 100% down for this. How do you modify the trim? do you just cut with a dremmel or something. Can I ask how much the part goes for. Im really glad because I think this looks ten times better than what I currently have. your the man for figuring this out.

the unit is $225. i just trim until it fits. fill in the gaps and wrap it with black leather. plus you have to make custom brackets to hold the unit.

Thats all...225! Im ordering one and Ill probably wait for the trim to be available and wrap it with the carbon fiber wrap that I still have left. thanks for the info...I cant wait to get it.
