I've now driven two M3's and couldn't achieve those mpg figures although I'm sure it's possible if you drive accordingly, but then to get the most out of the car it HAS to be revved, even to set off in 1st gear requires more revs than expected. If BMW gave it more torque overall, then for me the car, in manual guise would be much more user friendly in 'real world driving'. Still a great car on a track no doubt and horses for courses and all that.

20mpg seems reasonable to me. drove 3 335is and didnt get more than 21 out of them which i swhat put me off buying one. I got 21ish out of my e46 m3 and about 17 out of my scooby STI.

You can still have fun in a 335i and see 27 MPG, it's not a car that needs ragging, the engine torque delivery helps keep the revs down.

I used to get 20mpg in my 335i. Currently get 19mpg in the 350Z. I'd happily get a V8 (something I vowed never to do again after the 4200 returned 12mpg) if it'll match these sorts of figures however I'd probably be more likely to get something like M3-FAST's 16/17mpg figures!!!
